Storyit.com Review: Educational Games and Worksheets

Page content

Storyit.com (3 out of 5)

There are many educational websites out there which offers free worksheets and resources for use in the class. Storyit.com is a wonderful resource for teachers especially for language arts or reading educators.

On the home page of the storyit.com you will find several links on the top of th page. These links include:

  • Story It Home
  • Seasonal Themes
  • Kid’s Classics
  • Word Games
  • Story Starters
  • Write
  • Borders
  • Alphabet
  • A Kid’s Photo
  • A Kid’s Heart
  • A Kid’s Math

Each of these links contains various worksheets for students to complete, printable books, and online games. Printable clip art for the classroom is also available for teacher’s use.

I found the seasonal themes section to be very useful. After clicking on the seasonal themes link you are brought to a new page with several themes listed including:

  • Valentine’s Day
  • Christmas & Winter Resources
  • Martin Luther King’s Birthday
  • Autumn & Thanksgiving
  • Summer Inspirations

When choosing one of the above topics you are then led to various resources based on the theme of your choosing. Most of these resources revolve around picture starters and story starters worksheets which help the students in the language arts area.

The first few links on the top of the page lead you to different resources, worksheets, stories, etc. on the Storyit.com website. The last three links include A Kid’s Photo, A Kid’s Heart, and A Kid’s Math directs the user to new sites which open up in new windows. The thing I do not like about this is that clicking on these links not only redirects you to new sites but also slows the computer down as well as brings up pop up advertisements.

Overall the site is fairly easy to get around and nicely laid out and I would use this site for extra language arts and reading worksheets. I would not use it for the additional website which are linked to Storyit.com because of the slowness of the sites.
