It is every Windows user’s nightmare when the antivirus program stops working or cannot be opened to manage the program. When the usual recommendation to reboot the computer doesn’t help, it only means one thing: you have to deal with it soon. If you don’t, your computer is no longer protected and is at risk of virus infection or worse. Your PC could even spread malware to your contacts or other computers and removable drives.

Panda Cloud Antivirus Has Been Stopped

Panda antivirus is not the only program that can be stopped by malware, by software bug or by an incompatible program installed on Windows. As you already know, most computer worms, Trojans and other types of malware have the ability to block or stop processes and components of a virus and firewall protections. The malware will turn off the antivirus program to allow themselves to run and do what it has to do, such as download additional malware files, connect the computer to the attacker’s computer. to replicate itself, to damage system files or simply modify the computer settings so the end-user will not be able to browse the Internet or not to be able to use the computer, at all.

To try solving the issue or to find out if it is malware related problem and assuming that you cannot use the Internet to download files – Use a non-infected and working computer to download the following on-demand scanners and saving the files in a USB flash drive:

Use the downloaded on-demand scanner to check the computer for malicious software that your antivirus program has failed to prevent in protecting the system and the antivirus program itself.

Malware Free Computer but Panda is Not Working

If the computer is not infected with any malware, but Panda antivirus continue to display a stopped message or the virus protection icon have red X, it is time to install available hotfix. A hotfix is often released by Panda Security team if the problem has impacted several of their customers and if they able to reproduce the issue themselves. You can find the download for Panda hotfixes at the reference section of this article.

Note: You don’t need to remove Panda software before using the hotfix. Simply install the hotfix and reboot the computer.

Re-install

If none of the above solution has helped, it is best to re-install Panda security software. Download the Panda uninstaller and the current version of the virus protection installer. Please check the reference section of this article for the download links.

  • Panda Antivirus uninstaller.
  • Panda Internet Security uninstaller.
  • Panda Cloud Antivirus uninstaller.

Save the file on your desktop and proceed to downloading the latest version of the setup file of Panda security program:

  • Online installer of Panda Cloud Antivirus.
  • Setup file of Panda Antivirus, Internet Security or Global Protection programs can be taken when you login using your Panda Security user name and password.
  • Offline installer of Panda Cloud Antivirus with filename, CloudAntivirus.exe.

Proceed to using the uninstaller file, reboot the computer and then install again the antivirus program using the latest or current setup file.

Panda Antivirus is Still Not Working

When you finished removing and re-installing Panda Cloud Antivirus but the problem continues, you should try the following steps:

  • Uninstall again the program using the product uninstaller (see the uninstallers’ download links in the references section)
  • Reboot the computer
  • Open the registry editor in Windows by typing regedit in Start > Search or Run
  • Locate and select the following registry key:

For 32-bit Windows PC: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders\

For 64-bit Windows PC: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders\

  • Look at the right pane and ensure that Common AppData exists.

    If this registry value does not exist, you will need to create it by manually adding in the registry of Windows. If Common AppData exists, exit the registry editor and then contact Panda Security support. They will need some logs in your computer to help identify the issue and provide resolution.

To add Common AppData in the registry:

  • Make sure that you selected the following registry key:

For 32-bit Windows PC: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders\

For 64-bit Windows PC: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders\

  • In the right pane, right-click an empty space. Click New and then click **String Value

  • Type Common AppData to replace New Value #1 and then hit enter key on your keyboard.

  • Right-click the Common AppData entry then click Modify

  • Type C:\ProgramData in Value Data for Windows Vista and Windows computers or type C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Program data for Windows XP users. Click OK and close the registry editor.

  • Proceed to reinstalling the antivirus program in Windows.
