iPhone Explorer is a great way to transfer files to and from the iPhone. Handy features allow you to preview the files and photos before transferring them. iPhone Explorer truly shines when it is connected to a jailbroken iPhone.

installed, opening it reveals a slick and easy to use interface. iPhone Explorer automatically detects your iPhone once it is connected and displays a list of directories on the right. On the left of the screen is the contents of the currently selected directory.

iPhone Explorer relies on a very easy to use drag and drop interface. Simply drag files from the desktop or any other folder onto the iPhone Explorer window to transfer them to the iPhone. Doing the opposite will transfer files from the iPhone to the computer. Overall using the iPhone Explorer interface could not be any easier. The iPhone is automatically detected and the file contents are easily displayed.

iPhone Explorer does a wonderful job on jailbroken iPhones. With the addition of true root access, iPhone Explorer can access just about everything on the iPhone. Utilizing true root access, iPhone Explorer is capable of displaying email, SMS, voicemail and even the address book. iPhone Explorer can be used as an easy way to transfer just about any file type to the iPhone without Wi-Fi access, even themes!

Non-jailbroken users will find iPhone Explorer to be useful although not nearly as useful. iPhone Explorer is able to access things such as photos and other non-root folders when running in non-jailbroken mode. Access to things like email and text messaging are not possible unless the iPhone is jailbroken. Restrictions are not a result of the iPhone Explorer software but rather the iOS on the iPhone.

iPhone Explorer does a nice job at offering photo previews. Music previews work just as well with a simple playback bar to preview audio files before transferring them to or from the iPhone using iPhone Explorer. iPhone Explorer does offer an easy way to transfer just one picture or file from your iPhone without copying everything with iTunes.

iPhone Explorer: The Verdict (4 out of 5)

iPhone Explorer is definitely a good program for iPhone users. This program will prove useful for both jailbroken and non-jailbroken users although iPhone Explorer is truly brilliant for jailbroken iPhones.

The interface is well designed and offers easy access to the features of iPhone Explorer. The application runs almost flawlessly on the Mac. The PC version works very well although it is no stranger to crashes. During testing iPhone Explorer crashed several times on two different machines when disconnecting and connecting the iPhone.

Despite the minor bugs, iPhone Explorer is a great piece of software. furthermore the price of iPhone Explorer (free) can’t be beat. To download iPhone Explorer visit the official website here.
