The SanDisk Sansa Clip+ is a budget MP3 player with a small display which offers great sound quality and comes in capacities of 2 GB, 4 GB and 8 GB. It is priced well and is the successor to the Sansa Clip, which went on to become popular among audiophiles on a budget. It comes with an FM radio, voice recording and is quite compact.

Design (4 out of 5)

The SanDisk Sansa Clip+ has a nice compact design with dimensions of just 2.2 x 1.4 x 0.6 inches and a weight of 24 grams. It is quite slim and has really good build quality. Compared to the original Sansa Clip, it has the same dimensions but the build quality has been improved. The body is built of black plastic and has a nice feel.

The SanDisk Sansa Clip+ has a small 1 inch OLED display which displays a cramped interface. The small display isn’t the greatest, but having even a small display is better than having no display at all. It has a square control pad with all the usual controls: select, play/pause, fast forward, rewind and menu. There is a volume rocker and mini USB port on the left edge and a microSD slot and headphone jack on the right. The power button is located on the top if the MP3 player.

Features (4 out of 5)

The user interface of the SanDisk Sansa Clip+ is almost the same as the Sansa Clip’s, except that it has a square control pad instead of a round one. The user interface is displayed on the 1 inch OLED display. It’s quite intuitive; you can select music, FM radio, voice and settings on the main menu. It allows you to browse your music by artist, album, genre and playlists. You can also access them in a folder view. It also supports audiobooks and podcasts. You can listen to FM radio channels and record your voice. The FM reception is decent. You can also record the FM radio as normal voice in the WAV format.

The SanDisk Sansa Clip+ also allows you to insert microSD cards up to 16 GB in order to expand your storage capacity. It also supports the SlotMusic and SlotRadio cards by SanDisk. It is compatible with all the major operating systems: Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, Mac OS X and Linux.

Performance (4 out of 5)

The audio quality of the SanDisk Sansa Clip+ is really good, just like that of the original Sansa Clip. At this price range, you can’t get better audio quality than what this MP3 player offers. The bundled earbuds are pretty good too, but if you use your own high-end earphones, the audio quality is excellent. The audio is balanced with little noise. It has a built in equalizer with 9 presets.

The FM reception is also nice and the voice recording quality is decent.

Price to Value (4 out of 5)

I would definitely recommend the SanDisk Sansa Clip+. It offers great audio quality, a nice list of features ranging from FM radio, voice recording, to microSD support. It is priced very well at $69.99 for the 8 GB version, $49.99 for the 4 GB version and only $39.99 for the 2 GB version. You could also check out the Philips GoGear Vibe and the Philips GoGear Spark in the same price range, but I would highly recommend going with the SanDisk Sansa Clip+.
