Fix It! For Wood: Does it Really Remove Scratches from the Furniture? As Seen on TV Product Review
Introduction
Fix It! For Wood from Simoniz is a spray-on scratch remover for furniture and other wood surfaces, supposedly the fastest-acting product of its kind on the market. According to Simoniz, Fix It! For Wood will instantly repair scratched wood permanently. All you have to do is spray the scratch directly with the product, or use a clean towel to apply, and then buff lightly. Does it really permanently remove scratches, as Simoniz claims?
Ease of Use (4 out of 5)
If you use Fix It! For Wood according to the manufacturer’s directions, it is really simple. The directions tell you to either spray the scratch directly or use a clean towel to apply it, and then buff the surface lightly. The whole process only takes a few minutes. You do not have to do any mixing to match the color of your table or type of wood. Fix It! For Wood has a spray for dark wood and one for light wood. Sometimes you do have to buff the area a little extra to see any effects, though.

Performance (3 out of 5)
Unfortunately, Fix It! For Wood does not live up to Simoniz’s claims. It does not actually repair scratches - the spray merely covers them up. Fix It! For Wood is basically a couple of ounces of wood stain in a spray bottle. It will hide light scratches and blemishes, and deep scratches do fade so they are less noticeable; however, it does not fill the gouges or repair the wood. If you are looking for a scratch cover-up, then Fix It! For Wood does its job about as well as any other similar product on the market. Since Simoniz claims that the product will repair wood, though, Fix It! For Wood gets a poor performance rating.

Value (2 out of 5)
When you buy Fix It! For Wood from the official website, for $9.95 plus $9.95 in processing and handling (P&H) fees you receive:
- 1 light wood deep scratch filler
- 1 dark wood deep scratch filler
- 1 Bottle of Fix It! For Dark Wood
- 1 Bottle of Fix It! For Light Wood
- 1 microfiber finishing cloth
This product does not repair wood like it claims, so it is not worth what Simoniz is currently charging for it. You can find products that work in a similar fashion in most hardware and home supply stores, and you will not have to pay for P&H fees or wait the few weeks it takes for the product to arrive. The only real value that Fix It! For Wood has is that it works faster than some of the other scratch cover-up products on the market.
Overall (2 out of 5)
Take your time to research other ways to repair scratches in wood and take care of it properly. Be wary of “miracle fixes.” Fix It! For Wood does not live up to the manufacturer’s claims and it should not be purchased by anyone who wants to truly repair their wood or furniture.
