I’ve always been a fan of traditional scrapbooking and nowadays, I’m an even bigger fan of digital scrapbooking. Even when I’m not playing around with creating a new scrapbook, I like to design new papers and embellishments for potential future projects. You know you’ve got the fever when you start making digital scrapbooks to show off your other digital scrapbooks.

While Bright Hub regularly recommends other scrapbooking sites where you can find great free resources (and some fantastic paid designs, too!), we also offer several items of our own that you can download. In this guide, I’ll highlight some of our free digital scrapbook paper designs that you can download from our Desktop Publishing Media Gallery—you’ll find links to the download location of each paper below. All you have to do is download the image file (some are JPG and some are PNG) and use in your scrapbooking software of choice.

Also note that clicking on the download link does not immediately start the download. So, you can use the link as a way to see a larger version of the image with more detail.

Spring Paper Pack With 5 Designs

The pastel colors in this collection of papers are perfect for scrapbooks with a Spring, Easter, or casual wedding theme – but they could really be used for any occasion. The heart and swirled embellished images were created using the Love Romance dingbat font by Blue Vinyl. Clover Background

Whether you’re looking for a paper to use for St. Patrick’s Day projects or just to add a touch of luck to any scrapbook page, this clover background is a nice simple choice. The thumbnail to the right shows off a section of the paper, so you can get a good look at the clover design. For a more complete view of the entire material, see the larger image available on the download page. The PNG image measures 12" x 12" with a 300 dpi resolution.

Bubble Pack

This digital paper collection actually includes five different bubble designs, each one with a different color—dark blue, red, lavender, pink, and yellow. Each image is in the PNG format and measures the traditional 12" x 12" with a 300 dpi resolution.

Since each image has a different random bubble pattern, the paper can be easily cropped or cut to obtain lots of different styles. Or, you could get creative and combine the different colors and patterns for a collage effect.

The entire collection is packaged in a ZIP file, so you will need to unzip it before using.

Red Velvet Heart

The deep red colors coupled with the grainy texture of this digital scrapbook paper, give the impression of crushed red velvet. The silhouette of an embellished heart design adorns the lower half of the image, making the paper a good choice for cards and stationery. However, if you don’t like the embellishment, there’s plenty of room to cut out other designs on the top area of the image.

Available in the JPG format, this design is 12 inches wide by 12 inches high and has a 300 dpi resolution.

Brown Basket Weave

The interwoven brown strips of this very neutral design resemble a simple basket weave pattern. In addition to using this image as a background or material swatch, it could easily be turned into a photo frame by cutting any shape out of the central area of the paper. It also works as a great border—especially for scrapbook pages that show off those great beach vacation photos.

Pink Marble

Although this design is very simple, it’s also one of my all-time favorites—and I’m not even a pink fan! To be fair, the coloring of this digital scrapbook paper is more of a mauve tone, and the pattern shows off an understated elegance. This makes it a great choice for anything from baby and wedding scrapbooks, to Valentine’s Day and Easter designs. It looks particularly nice when matched with silver or pastel embellishments.

Dense Green Check

Although this green check image is large enough to be used as a background for digital scrapbooking projects, I find that it generally works better as a material or border, since the dense pattern of the checks can be a little rough on the eyes if you stare at it for too long.

Snowflake Digital Scrapbook Paper

This is another paper that I prefer to use as a material swatch or pattern, rather than as a full background—but the image is still large enough to serve as a background for most projects.

This particular image is available for download as a PNG file and, like all the other papers in this collection, measures 12 x 12 inches with a 300 dpi resolution.

Blue Granite

I love blue shades, and I really love granite or marble textures, so this paper is another one that ranks high on my list of favorites. Although the texture is a little dense, resembling more of a granite pattern, it could also be used for projects in which you want to incorporate a marble look. The light blue shade meshes well with a variety of themes, including baby boy scrapbooks and spring designs.

Lighthouse at Night

Most of the other digital scrapbook papers in this collection are simple textured designs that would work well as backgrounds, material swatches, borders, and frames. This one is just a little different, and features the silhouette of a lighthouse fading into the mist of a starless night sky. While it’s not quite as versatile as some of the other images showcased here, this paper does work well with a lot of mystical or fantasy-themed projects.

Coral Crumple

Nowadays, many people use digital scrapbooking tools for more than just making scrapbooks—and this is a perfect paper to use for projects like designer stationery, greeting cards, calendars, and other creations. The coral coloring of this paper is neutral enough to complement almost any theme, but bright enough to give your project a cheery tone.

This choice is also in the PNG format, 12 x 12 inches with 300 dpi.
