From the outset the makers of CompuPic Pro 6.23 state that the editing functionality of its software is not complete. It even directs those who want full editing functionality (such as paint) to Paint Shop Pro or Adobe Photoshop. CompuPic Pro 6.23 is quite simply for quick modifications of digital photographs. For professionals on the go and for those of us who do not have any intention of becoming the next great art master, this software will fill the niche.
Simplicity and functionality characterize CompuPic Pro 6.23. Its no-frills Interface menu comes with a toolbar of icons and text. The Main Menu holds everything needed to modify digitals photos, mirror a website, or create a slide show that you can email in its entirety.
Security can be turned on by keying-in a password to prevent others from using CompuPic Pro 6.23. Although it is not hacker-proof, it will keep most of the unwanted meddlers out.
The carefully selected effects for CompuPic Pro 6.23 perform well and look great on the right digital photo. The secret is selecting the right effect for the right photo.
Technical intimidation has been corralled with CompuPic Pro 6.23. Whether novice or professional, the smooth navigation and the quick and easy responses to requested digital photo modifications make you look really smart.
User Interface (5 out of 5)
The CompuPic Pro 6.23 Interface Menu consists of the Menu and the Toolbar on the top of the screen horizontally. The files are listed on the left-hand side vertically while the center displays thumbnails of the selected photos. Once again, it is an uncomplicated design that is easy to use and functional.
Security & Privacy (4 out of 5)
Access Security can be had by going to File and then selecting Preferences. Once at Access Security, key-in a password of your choice, and no one will have access but you. PhotoDex Corporation does stress, however, that such measures will not keep dedicated hackers out.
Help & Support (5 out of 5)
By clicking on the question mark (?) icon in the upper right-hand corner, the dropdown list offers Support, and in this list Technical Support can be found. Technical Support is available M-F CST from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Their telephone number is (512) 419-7000. Email is an option as well. Their email address is [email protected]. Many technical questions can be answered at their web site: www.photodex.com.
Though there is an 800 number for Customer Service (800-377-4686), there is none for Technical Support.
Price to Value (4 out of 5)
CompuPic Pro 6.23’s ease of use and functionality for quick modifications make the $79.95 price worthwhile to website managers and professional digital photographers.
Installation & Setup (5 out of 5)
I downloaded CompuPic Pro 6.23 from the Photodex Corporation web site. Once the registration number was keyed in, it was a quick download and even faster installation.
Product Features (4 out of 5)
CompuPic Pro 6.23 has two basic features. Incorporating changes to digital photographs, such as fixing defects to make the photos the best they can be, is one. The second consists of the effects available to give realistic photographs a more than what you see is what you get look.
After the basic features, you have the slide show capabilities plus email, along with the download of files from web sites and web site mirroring.
Performance (5 out of 5)
Complicated technology that is designed and brought to the user with functional and operational simplicity wins my vote every time. Within the parameters and the target audience CompuPic Pro 6.23 caters to, performance here is topnotch. CompuPic Pro 6.23 promises no more than what it can deliver well.
I would suggest a few more effects as long as they are easy to create and quickly executed.
Quick changes to digital photos that allow the professional to stay out in the field more than on the computer sum up the value and purpose of CompuPic Pro 6.23. With an uncluttered menu interface, ease of use, and functionality, the professsional photographer can meet his deadlines with time to spare. Although it says “pro”, even the novice will feel at home with CompuPic 6.23.
