Review of the Camera, Multimedia, and Connectivity of the HTC Touch Pro2

The HTC Touch Pro2 sports a 3.15 MP Camera which is capable of capturing images at 2048 x 1536 pixels. It also has autofocus. If you prefer a better camera, you should go with the HTC Diamond2 instead. The camera interface is very intuitive and user friendly. It has the usual customizable settings like color effects, white balance, ISO settings, self timer, etc. The image capture quality is pretty decent. The images are a bit grainy with slightly inaccurate color reproduction. The camera lacks flash and geotagging which is disappointing. The camera can also capture VGA video at 15 FPS, which is not much to boast of. The video capture quality is mediocre at best; the details poor and the picture blurry.
The Touch Pro2 comes with a nice image gallery which provides a very easy way to browse through your image collection. You can swipe your finger to move on to the next or previous image and zoom into it using the virtual zoom bar. The images are automatically displayed in landscape mode. The music player has a very nice interface and provides you with a cool and easy way to access your music files. The interface is inspired by the iPhone. It supports Album Art and supports listing by artists, albums, and genres. The sound quality with the default headset is pretty good and should suffice for casual listeners. It has a nice frequency response and an optimum dynamic range. It is one of the better Windows Mobile phones in terms of sound quality. It also has a 10 band equalizer with presets to tailor your music experience to your liking.
It comes bundled with Windows Media Player as well as another TouchFLO specific player which supports the 3GP and MP4 video formats. The video playback quality is truly awesome, thanks to the spectacular display. Watching movies on the HTC Touch Pro2 is a great experience. It can easily double up as a PMP. For video playback, I would recommend using the Core Player with support for more formats including DivX/XviD.
Connectivity and Accessories (4 out of 5)
The HTC Touch Pro2 sports a wide range of connectivity options like GPRS, HSCSD, EDGE, and 3G.
It also supports Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g and Bluetooth v2.0 with A2DP. It can be connected to your computer using the MiniUSB port. It comes bundled with the standard set of accessories: the charger/USB cable, wired headphones, a spare stylus, and the software CD. It also includes the manuals and guides.
The Touch Pro2 is powered by a 1500 mAh Li-Ion battery, which can power it for about 2 days easily. It has a rated talktime of about eight hours which is pretty impressive considering the display.
Concluding this review, the HTC Touch Pro2 is a very nice phone and is amongst the best Windows Mobile phones available. It presents good competition to the likes of the Apple iPhone 3GS, Palm Pre, and the Nokia N97.
