Nokia C6 vs C7 - Which is Best?

Nokia CSeries

The Nokia Cseries is one of the series in the four series of Nokia devices in addition to Xseries, Eseries and Nseries. The Nokia C7 is the latest model in their Cseries. The Nokia C6-00 and C6-01 did not make the cut, and this is why many technical reviewers are eager to know if the Nokia C7 is something to be considered by Nokia followers. In the next section of this article, we’ll compare the two Nokia Cseries phones.

Size, Design and Operating System

The Nokia C6 and C7 both use the Symbian 3 operating system, which is latest system so far by Symbian. The system in both Nokia models functions well, as long as you have enough memory.

The Nokia C7 is a monoblock phone while the C6 is a full-slider phone. It depends on the mobile user, as which to choose, but both have different usage. People who enjoy a full QWERTY keyboard and have had such phone before may find it easier to use the Nokia C6. Although, I personally don’t see the need for such a keyboard if the phone is a touchscreen device.

There’s no comparison with the weight of the Nokia C6 vs C7, since the latter is only one gram lighter. However, the C7 is wider and longer than the C6 but not much: 104 x 53 x 14 mm vs 117 x 57 x 11 mm. It means any size of palm should be able to handle either of these phones. Both Cseries phones have 3 home screens and an on-screen alphanumeric keypad as well as a full keyboard.

Input, Memory and Battery Life

Nokia C6

Most people are concerned with the built-in memory of any phone. The Nokia C7 is a winner, compared to the C6 because the internal memory of the C7 is 8 GB compared to 340 MB in the Nokia C6. Both allow insertion of a micro SD card up to 32 GB.

The input method of these Cseries models is a capacitive touchscreen, which means it’s accurate and flexible.

Another concern by phone buyers is the battery life - how long will the phone’s talk time be? The Nokia C6 beats the C7 this time because it can last up to 11 hours, while the C7’s battery needs to be charged again after 9 hours.

Features

There is no question that the Nokia C7 has better features than the C6 because of the following:

  • The Nokia C7 video camera resolution is a high-definition, while the C6 only uses standard VGA. Note that both Nokia models have 8MP cameras. The C7 can produce high-definition video, which is why it can play H.264 or advanced video coding.
  • The C7 includes a media player by RealNetworks. This feature may not attract many users, since there is always an option to install another audio and video player, but for people who want a built-in video player and in order to save disk space, it’s worth having one already – out of the box. What is neat in having this player is there’s no need to use a video conversion tool if you have a Real video 10 media file.
  • Applications in the Nokia C6 and C7 are similar. You can use Web TV, OVI store, maps, video and photo editor, mail, contacts, calendar and many others. However, C6 includes a Social Networking Service (SNS) that the Nokia C7 doesn’t, but you can still use the C7 to include social networking services by using Ovi’s Nokia Social client.
  • Potential buyers of the Nokia C7 have the option to choose black, mahogany brown or metallic, while C6 buyers can only choose between silver grey and black colors.

Conclusion

The Nokia C6 vs C7 comes close, but the Nokia C7 is definitely the winner. It’s a bit thinner, is better designed and uses advanced video coding. Only get the Nokia C6 if you prefer using a mid-range mobile phone.
