This phone has a simple lightweight design that offers a little more than basic features. The device is a very good choice for people who want an easy to use, lightweight flip cell phone with the basic features of calling, SMS, MP3 player, camera, with a very good battery backup for at least 9 hours.

on and weighs in at 3.32 ounces. The phone has a rectangular silhouette with curved corners and a textured border along its sides. Being an impressively lightweight device, the feel of the phone is not that appealing, as it gives one the feeling of a cheap phone. The front of Motorola WX345 is occupied by a monochromatic external LCD screen of 1.8 inches. Above the screen is the camera. The left side has a Micro USB charging jack, and volume rocker, and the right side has a 3.5 mm headset jack. Under the back cover lies the battery and the micro SD card slot. The surface of the phone is glossy, made of plastic and it comes either red or silver.

User Interface (4 out of 5)

The phone flips open quickly and easily due to its sturdy and smooth hinge, and uncovers a 1.8 inch simple monochromatic external LCD display that has 65K colors and 128x160-pixel resolution. The fonts are large enough and clear, but unfortunately the font size is unchangeable. The main menu style, main screen wallpaper, time and date display on/off, brightness and back light timer are the only items that can be modified according to one’s needs.

Navigation through the menus and menu items is quite easy to understand, easy and simple. There are 2 soft keys, a square toggle key with a center confirmation key, back key, a camera key and send/end/power key, through which most of the functions are accessed and used. The toggle key is also a shortcut to user profile, music player, contacts and inbox. Beneath this key is a number keypad with big keys that have a rubbery feel and they are slightly raised for easy pressing.

Features (4 out of 5)

Being a simple phone it is primarily focused on communication i.e. calls and messaging. The phonebook stores 500 contacts and each contact can have four additional numbers. The numbers can be grouped by company name, or email address, and each number can be assigned a different caller tune from the built-in 15 polyphonic ringtones on this Motorola phone.

Motorola WX345 Features (4 out of 5)

There are two entertaining games built into this Motorola phone and they have adjustable sound and vibration settings.

There is a 2 mega pixel camera with five resolutions, 6 white balance presets, self-timer, sounds, six color effects and three image quality types. Anti flicker adjustments, exposure settings, zoom up to 4x can also be done. In addition to images, the camera also records videos. The music player is basic and performs simple tasks like play, forward, rewind and pause. It also allows you to create, edit play lists, toggle, shuffle and repeat songs.

Other features of the phone include vibrate mode, speakerphone, auto radio frequency search, radio recording, background music play, SMS and MMS messaging, and basic tools such as calendar, tasks, calculator and alarm clock. There are a few more-than-basic features on the phone that include Bluetooth, GPRS with the frequency band GSM / GPRS 900/1800/1900 MHz, sound recorder, wireless WAP browser, and music player.

Performance (5 out of 5)

On the whole this phone has an excellent call quality with a good volume base and a clear voice quality.

The sound quality of the music player is also good; not so great that every music enthusiast would like it, but it is good enough to make your favorite music sound clear and precise. The FM radio player works when headsets are connected to the phone and the signal reception is good but week compared to most other Motorola phones.

The photo quality of the camera is good but at a high resolution only.

The phone has 9 hours of talk time and 31 days of standby time, which is really great.

The Verdict (4 out of 5)

The Motorola WX345 is an attractive looking lightweight device that is made for people who don’t want a very hi-tech phone, but a simple phone that offers easy navigation, simple features and a solid quality. This phone has a very good battery life, which is an added bonus. The phone is available at a highly affordable price and I think it’s an option worth trying from Motorola.
