The name exudes a certain style and mood which is backed up by the sleek and trendy design of the Karma QA1. A phone that does justice to its name the Motorola Karma explores the abyss of PDA’s and the result is nothing short of excellence. Merging together the two hottest trends i.e. a full QWERTY keypad and a slender slider the Motorola Karma is a 3G device that showcases a browser functionality that works at the speed of light and access to social networking sites. If you have the taste buds for texting the Motorola Karma is the phone for you.

A harbinger of innovative designs, Motorola had decided to outdo all forms of sliders that boast difficult angle slides. Flaunting a vertical slider QWERTY device Motorola has encompassed this magnificent idea into a slender body with a matt finish and a weight of 141 grams. The Motorola Karma incorporates a 2.5 inch TFT screen that supports 262k colors. Moving south you will come across the standardized buttons, the directional key pad and several buttons, dedicated to making your phone experience much easier.

With a 2.5-inch, 240 x 320 pixel display, there is so much room for reading and the text is sharp and bright so anyone will be able to read it clearly. The screen is a little reflective. It is a small drawback of the Karma's user interface, but fully increasing the brightness of the screen will make it useable even under direct sun light.
The home screen of the Karma features webpage links for MySpace, JuiceCaster and FaceBook. There is also a shortcut menu on the main screen for Bluetooth settings, alarm clock and a few other commonly used features.
You will find the tiered menu structure a bit weird as there are repeated icons across various sub-menus. But navigating through menus and features is quick. The phone uses Motorola's proprietary operating system, which is fast. Unfortunately AT&T has loaded the phone with a lot of bloatware and useless branded content that is probably of no use to most users.

Featuring a 2 Megapixel camera, supporting up to 1600×1200 pixels and a light emitting diode flash, the Motorola Karma doesn't have the greatest camera in the world. Imbued with the technology that allows video streaming at a rate of 15 frames per second the Motorola Karma QA1 possesses a lithium-ion battery that lasts up to 3hrs 40 mins. Belonging to a genre that flaunts texting as its main operative element, the Karma QA1 has all the options that allow you to load up your favorite instant messaging client and stay connected with your friends and family.
The 3G feature of the Motorola Karma allows you to quickly load pages, stream audio and videos on the go. As you might expect, the phone comes with a multimedia player that can play almost all multimedia files but not Windows Media formats.
The phone does lack Wi-Fi capability, which is disappointing. You can store your pictures and videos in its 100MB internal memory but if you need more space, there is an option of adding a maximum of 16GB MicroSD memory card, which is more than most people will need. The QWERTY keypad of the phone only adds to the exuberance of the design and applications.

The music player provides users with all the basic necessities incorporated in an average phone. From shuffling songs to creating your desired playlists, the phone provides you with several features that you will find in phones within this price range. The video playback on the other hand exceeds expectations. This 3G phone comes with very fast page loading ability but on the other side, buffering and streaming video aren't good as they should've been
When it comes down to how this phone performs on the results of the camera, Motorola fans might be a little disappointed as the 2 MP camera barely satisfies the hunger of all the avid amateur photographers out there. Even with the built in LED flash and a variety of options that help to enhance your picture taking experience the camera provides only satisfactory results regarding detail and color.
The battery life of 3 hours, 40 minutes of talk time on 3G and up to 312 hours of standby is reasonable.

Being coined as a square messaging phone, the Motorola Karma is rated better in certain aspects than its counterparts. Imbued with a more professional finish, the Motorola Karma is contributing to the elevation in sales of Motorola handsets and is definitely creating waves in the market for quick messaging devices. For text addicts seeking a compact device the Karma could be a good choice.
