This is a premium case finished in anodized aluminium for some serious protection. There’s a neoprene lining on the inside top, bottom and sides which protects the phone and holds it snugly in place. The case flips open and can be snapped shut with a catch which holds it securely closed. This case is open at the front for easy touchscreen access and there are cut outs so you can use the camera and all of the controls and ports.

The case comes in a swanky presentation box and includes a 360 degree swivel belt clip. The hard exterior offers great protection for your phone and the lining provides a little shock absorption. It is a good looking option and a high quality design. This is such a snug fit that it is only suitable for use as a Google Nexus One case. This case comes in black or silver and if you fancy one it will cost you around $25.

This is a two part hard plastic case that snaps over your phone and protects it from damage. There are cut out sections which give you full access to the controls and ports. You can also use the touchscreen easily and there is also a cut out section at the bottom so you can use the trackball. This case isn’t suitable for the HTC Desire because it covers the additional buttons on either side of the trackball beneath the screen. It is finished in shiny plastic and it offers some extra grip and prevents the phone from sliding around on smooth surfaces.

This is a pretty basic case but it does include an optional belt clip attachment which fits into a slot on the back of the case. It comes in a wide range of colours and designs. For just under $10 it represents reasonable value for your money but it does look and feel cheap.

This is another two part case that snaps securely over your phone. It is exactly the same as the shiny case described above except that it has a rubberized matt finish. So there is easy access to the touchscreen, controls and ports thanks to cut out sections - and once again this case is not suitable for the HTC Desire.

This case can also be ordered for under $10. It comes in a wide range of colours and designs. The rubberized finish gives it better grip than the shiny case and it feels and looks slightly better as well.

Gummy Case (3 out of 5)

This one piece case has a clear hard plastic backing with a flexible frame and it fits securely round your Nexus One or HTC Desire. There are various colour combinations available and some offer a two tone design instead of a clear backing. The touchscreen is fully accessible and there are cut outs for the camera, ports and the controls beneath the screen. The power button and volume controls are covered but can still be used and are marked out by raised sections of the case.

It is fairly comfortable to hold and offers some improved grip to prevent the phone from slipping. This case is around $15 and it’s a decent option for some basic protection.

This Candy Skin Case is suitable for both the Google Nexus One and the HTC Desire. Finished in shiny vinyl plastic, this is a one piece flexible case and it forms a second skin around your phone effectively protecting it from any scrapes or scratches. There are cut out sections so the camera can function and you can still access all the ports. It also has an open front so you can use the touchscreen and access the trackball beneath (and the additional buttons on the HTC Desire). There are also indentations so you can use the power button and the volume controls.

This is a pretty cheap and simple Google Nexus One case but it will protect the body of your phone. It also gives you some grip and prevents the phone from sliding when placed on smooth surfaces. It comes in a range of different colours and designs. For under $10 this does the job nicely if you just want some basic protection.

Silicone Skin (4 out of 5)

This one piece silicone skin is easy to fit on your Nexus One and provides protection from scratches and scrapes. It also feels pleasant to hold and the added grip means your phone won’t slide off smooth surfaces. There are cut out sections for the camera and the ports and you have full access to the touchscreen and the trackball. There are also indentations to allow you to use the power button and the volume controls.

This Nexus One case is also available in a wide range of colors and designs. You can order one of these for under $10 and in this price bracket it is probably the best option.

Last, but not least, we have the dual rubberized phone protector cover. This case comes in two parts; firstly there is a rubberized silicone skin which wraps securely round your Google Nexus One or HTC Desire. It has a diamond pattern and a rubberized finish and this provides excellent grip for smooth surfaces - even when cornering in your car this case will prevent your phone from sliding off the dash. The second part is a hard plastic cover which slips on top of the silicone skin to give added protection. It looks stylish and it is very comfortable to hold. There are cut outs for the touchscreen, the controls, the camera and the ports. Indented sections let you can use the power button and volume controls.

The silicone skin is black but the plastic part comes in a variety of colours and patterns. You can order this case for under $15. It offers the best range of features and the best value for money on the whole list.
