Keynote Remote

Recently, I had to give a big presentation, and found myself lacking a remote to change the slides with. Luckily, after a quick search in Apple’s App Store, I found exactly what I was looking for. With Keynote Remote, you can control your presentation in Kenote easily.

Design (5 out of 5)

I was very pleased with the simplicity of Keynote Remote. All you have to do is open up Keynote on your computer, and then open up Keynote Remote on your iPhone or iPod Touch. Just don’t forget that if you’re working on an iPod Touch, you need to have a WiFi connection, otherwise the Keynote Remote app will not work.

After you’re connected to your presentation on your computer, you can view your entire presentation on your iPhone or iPod Touch. When you turn your iPhone or iPod Touch in landscape mode, you can either view your presentation slide by slide, or change the settings so you can preview the next slide. On the other hand, in portrait mode, you can view your entire presentation one slide at a time, and view your slide notes at the same time. To change from one slide to another, all you have to do is give the screen a little flick.

Convenience (4 out of 5)

I found the Keynote Remote app convenient, as it came in very handy when I was in need of a slide remote. The controls are pretty basic and easy to use, and you’ll get the hang of it after a few slides. What I liked most was that the app is its ability to display your slide notes, which eliminates the need for those annoying index cards.

What I didn’t like is that without a WiFi connection, this app is useless on the iPod Touch. Also, I didn’t like the fact that you can only use this remote on Keynote, which is only available on a Mac, so you can’t use this app for a PC. But those are some very small drawbacks for such a great app.

The Bottom Line

Keynote Remote is a handy little app that is sure to make your life a lot easier. With it, you can control your Keynote presentation from anywhere in the room, and view your notes as well, allowing you to deliver a stunning presentation.
