Tumble Pro (5 out of 5)
A few weeks back, I singled out the Tumble app for being too watered down. It didn’t really offer any of the features that separated Tumblr.com from any other free blogging site, namely, the Dashboard. Tumble Pro, on the other hand, makes great strides in truly delivering the full Tumblr experience on your iPhone.
Tumble Pro by BitFire Systems carries a $1.99 price tag which affords you the new options of multiple accounts (which I have), more options in your posts, and full access to the Tumblr Dashboard, as I previously mentioned. This version is money well spent as the absence of the Dashboard in the free version of Tumble basically negates the social aspect of the site. The Dashboard is where all the new posts from your friends show up. Think of it as like a Tumblr-only RSS feed. It’s what makes Tumblr unique and its absence from the free app was a pretty big deal breaker for me.
Aside from the addition of the Dashboard, Tumble Pro has added the option of auto geo-locating your posts, which is what all the kids seem to be into nowadays. You also have the options of tagging your posts for easy sorting, and even the ability to set them to ‘private’ so your boss doesn’t see that thing you did down in Tijuana.
The bottom line is that Tumble Pro offers enough extra options for the Tumblr user to justify its price tag. The app itself is quick, nice looking, and functions as advertised. Throwing down the $2 is well worth it to really get the most out of your Tumblr blog. Tumblr prides itself as being simple and easy to use, and the devs at BitFire have done a great job with the app. It is highly recommended for Tumblr users.
