Urbanspoon

Urbanspoon iPhone app is possibly one of the coolest, if not the coolest, iPhone restaurant guide app available from the App Store today. Why wouldn’t it be cool when it can suggest places where you can eat or dine through a virtual machine which you operate by shaking your iPhone? It doesn’t matter how many times you shake for as long as you can’t find the best restaurant you want to check out, it will continue to give its suggestion. This iPhone app is certainly useful if you have no idea where to eat next. It could be fun discovering new restaurants via this iPhone restaurant guide app. (Price: Free) (Download link)

iRestaurant

I’m beginning to think that apps on the App Store that start with the small letter “i” are generally going to be cool apps. Did you notice this? Take the case of this iPhone app called iRestaurant. This app helps you find your favorite restaurant or even the closest fast food chain to your current location. The app works fast and simple as well - all you have to do is to tap on the “find” option and wait for the app to do its thing. You can also type in specific names of restaurants and then view the results on a map. The app also lets you choose specific cuisines being served by different restaurants. Other features of this app include - color coded pins for restaurant rating, driving directions to the place you found using the app, phone numbers of the restaurant so that you can make reservations in advance, and up to 250 results per search. Zagat to Go

Zagat to Go is another popular iPhone restaurant guide app. It gives you free access to the latest restaurant reviews and ratings from more than 45 restaurant guides. The app lets you browse restaurants as you travel via an offline mode. Using your iPhone’s GPS capability, the app quickly finds nearby restaurants. You can sort search results by food, decor, service and even cost. It also allows you to call the restaurants to book a reservation for you and your date. What’s cool about the app is the digital concierge which suggests restaurants which you can visit with your date, friends and family. (Price: $9.99) (Download link)

Cool Restaurants

coolrestaurants

Here’s another pretty cool app that wants to be different from all the other iPhone restaurant guide apps. It gives you a comprehensive list of the best, trendiest, most unique and coolest restaurants compiled by a movie actress and an international TV-executive. The list covers 59 cities worldwide. What makes this app unique is that it gives you the top 7 coolest restaurants per city based on quality, hip-factor and individuality. The app covers various types of restaurants ranging from gourmet to bistro. Currently, the app has listed down more than 413 restaurants in 59 countries on 5 continents. So no matter where you go, there’s a big probability that at least seven of the top spots in that country are listed on the app’s database. (Price: $1.99) (Download link)

Metro Restaurant

The app lets you access the list even when your iPhone is offline. The app covers most popular restaurants for each city covered, with brief introductions, address, nearby metro stations, phone and the restaurants’ websites included in the database. Which is the Best iPhone Restaurant Guide App?

For its coolness factor, I would have to say that Urbanspoon beats everyone on our list. The interface is pretty sleek, and the app works swiftly. It’s definitely a great way of discovering new restaurants to dine at. The fact that it is a free app is just an added advantage when compared to the other iPhone restaurant guide apps we’ve included on this list.
