The Problem of Data Transfer

Most users of mobile phones create contact lists, create data, store phone calls and records, keep logs, and anything that they can think of by way of using their mobile system. In the event that a user changes phone carriers, or gets a new mobile phone system, how can the data, collected over a period of time be saved, and transferred over to the new phone? For that matter, law enforcement agencies may need to transfer information from one phone to another for forensic analysis. In these cases, whether it is a personal issue or a governmental one, you must make the transfer, and it has to be quick and reliable.

One such company that makes the hardware for data transfer is Cellebrite, and law officers and agencies need to know how to use Cellebrite for the iPhone in order to do the data transfers correctly. They have the UME-36 appliance that has data transfer capabilities, for starters. But it also has additional features that make it a reliable tool for many different people or agencies. Additional information can be found in the Guide to USB File Transfer Rates and Improving Speeds.

The UME will prompt the user to select and define a set of parameters for the transfer process. These parameters consist of identifying the Source Phone and Target Phone. You must identify the phone makes and models, and the type of memory from which the contents will be copied to and from (for example, phone memory or SIM card).

Next, you also specify the available Link option such as cable or IrDA. Once you complete the parameters, the UME displays the number of cables to connect to the mobile phones or IR connection. Then, when you press the transfer button, the data flows from the Source Phone, through the UME, to the Target Phone. Finally, if it is necessary, the UME automatically manipulates any data formats and fields in order to be compatible with the Target Phone.
