Intro to the HTC Tilt 2

When HTC manufactured the original HTC Tilt, the phone made a splash in the cell phone market. The HTC Tilt quickly gained momentum and became one of the most user-friendly devices out there, popular with gamers and social networkers who loved it instantly for its features. Now, HTC has done it again. They have improved the HTC Tilt and added new modifications that will make Internet lovers go crazy to get one. With all of the new improvements, the HTC Tilt 2 will not disappoint users of the original HTC Tilt and it will definitely bring in other users new to the HTC brand.

Design (4 out of 5)

The small size of the HTC Tilt 2 allows you to store the phone in small places like a pocket, however, it may be scratched easily so be careful or get a case. The phone is a bit heavy weighing in at 6.3 ounces and it measures 4.54 inches by 2.33 inches by 0.65 inches, but it is tolerable. The screen size is slightly disappointing with only a viewing area of 3.6 inches, whereas many phones now have a touchscreen at least 4 inches in size. The difference is not that much, but when you are watching television on the device, every inch counts. However, the clarity of the screen is spectacular. The resolution measures 480 x 800 pixels. Although there are cases you can purchase to personalize the outside of your HTC Tilt 2, the only color the phone actually comes in is blue.

User Interface (5 out of 5)

All of HTC’s devices seemingly have great user interfaces. The HTC Tilt 2 is no different. The touchscreen is easy to control and customize. The device also has a new predictive texting feature to increase texting speeds for avid texters. The menus are all accessible with a quick swipe on the phone. The lock screen is even customizable on the HTC Tilt 2. You can now see the missed calls and messages that came through while you were away by glancing at the lock screen.

There is no need to upgrade the operating system on the HTC Tilt 2 because it comes with a standard 6.5 Windows Mobile operating system. The phone has a standard speakerphone and the ability to travel internationally. The operating system also allows you to talk on the phone at the same time as accessing and browsing the Internet without interruption. When the 3G network is not available, you can easily switch to the Wi-Fi option available on the phone. AT&T provides numerous hotspots to connect through whenever you need it. This works well with the GPS capabilities of the device and the navigational systems the device can access. It also allows you to quickly download and upload music to the HTC Tilt 2. Sharing the music is also easy through the external speakers on the device. The videos on the phone can be shared on the device too through live streaming or using the external port to display the video on a bigger screen. One of the best features of the Tilt 2, besides the live streaming, is the built-in FM radio and streaming radio.

Performance (5 out of 5)

The internal antennae and the multiple networks the HTC Tilt 2 can access, allow you to adjust the call quality on the phone when needed. This feature produces a superb call quality each time. The memory on the device has an internal storage space of 512 MB and an expandable memory storage space of 32 GB. The talk time is much better than the original HTC Tilt because it offers up to 8.5 hours of talk time. The Windows Marketplace is pre-loaded on the device and provides an excellent alternative to the ever-popular Android Market. The Windows Marketplace allows you to access many applications that enhance the functionality of the phone as well as give you fun applications to enjoy in your spare time.

The Verdict (5 out of 5)

It’s all good! Well, just about anyway. The HTC Tilt 2 is pure proof that you can improve on perfection. This device still has the multi-tasking ability that allows you to visit the Internet while talking on the phone, which is an added bonus to everyone. However, there is one thing that the Tilt 2 could improve. That is the use of the 3.5 mm jack. The jack is not on the device, instead the lovely people at HTC chose to replace it with an audio adapter. This is not the downfall of the device, just a minor inconvenience. The standard Opera browser on this device makes surfing the Internet quick and fun without producing unnecessary unrelated search results. Overall, the device is certainly a best buy.
