HTC was one of the first Android backers while Motorola joined the Android bandwagon a bit later. But Motorola dedicated itself completely to Android while HTC is still playing with other platforms like Windows Phone 7 and BREW.

The current king of the Android lineup is the Samsung Galaxy S, and Samsung also holds the largest share of all Android devices. Even the latest Google Android phone - the Google Nexus S was made by Samsung.

Motorola, on the other hand, made Android cool with the Droid campaign with Verizon. The Motorola Droid X is one of the best Android devices yet. The HTC Droid Incredible is quite similar to the Droid X in terms of specifications and it is also available on Verizon.

In this comparison, I pit the Motorola Droid X against the HTC Droid Incredible.

Design and Display

The Motorola Droid X has a standard touchscreen candybar form factor, and so does the HTC Droid Incredible. Both sport a similar design, with the display dominating the front face and the standard Android keys below the display - Home, Back, Search and Menu. Even though the Droid X has a much larger display, it is actually slimmer. But the other dimensions and the weight are more than the Droid Incredible.

While the Droid Incredible is compact, the Droid X offers a much bigger display. The choice lies with you, whether you want a smaller, more portable phone or a bulkier phone with a bigger display.

The Droid X has a 4.3 inch TFT capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 480 x 854 pixels while the Droid Incredible has a 3.7 inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. Even in terms of hardware, both are evenly matched. Both the phones have a 1 GHz processor and 512 MB RAM. The Droid X has 6.5 GB internal storage and supports up to 32 GB microSD cards while the Droid Incredible has 8 GB internal memory and supports 32 GB microSD cards too.

The Verdict

While both the Droid X and the Droid Incredible are great phones, if I had to choose one phone, it would be the Motorola Droid X. It has a bigger display, is slimmer, has a much better camera and also comes with a more powerful battery. If you want a more compact phone with the Sense UI instead of MotoBLUR, go with the HTC Droid Incredible.
