Setting up a voicemail account on a new BlackBerry device is quite simple. Activating the voicemail, recording a greeting message and setting up a password can be done in a few simple steps. However, keep in mind that BlackBerry voicemail settings are not designed by RIM but by your service carrier and the majority of carriers use similar voicemail settings like the ones described below. But if these don’t work, phone your service carrier customer support for assistance.

Activating BlackBerry Voicemail

Step 1: Click the wheel on the Phone icon from the main icon view. Now, again click the wheel to bring up a popup menu.

Step 2: From this popup phone options menu, select Call Log and then Call Forwarding.

Step 3: Select the option that will send unanswered calls to voicemail and Click Save.

Setting up Voicemail Password

Step 1: To set-up a voicemail password, select Voicemail from the Phone Options menu.

Step 2: Now type in the voicemail access number plus a four digit password. Here, the Access number is your mobile number and the four digit password selected by you.

Step 3: To open the popup menu, click on the wheel.

Step 4: Then click Save from the popup menu to save your voicemail password settings.

Step 5: Click the Escape button to return to the main phone screen.

Creating Voicemail Message

Step 1: To create a personalized voicemail message, call your BlackBerry from another number or landline.

Step 2: When you hear the default voicemail message, interrupt it by pressing hash (#).

Step 3: Now follow the prompts given by the voicemail system and set up a new personal voicemail message.

How to Access Voicemail

Step 1: Click the wheel on the Phone icon from the main icon view. Now, again click the wheel to bring up a popup menu.

Step 2: From this popup phone options menu, select Call Voicemail.

Step 3: Now, enter your voice mail password and listen to all the messages that are in your inbox.

How to Change a BlackBerry Voicemail Number

Step 1: Open the call log on your BlackBerry.

Step 2: Press the BlackBerry logo button to open the list of options.

Step 3: From these options, select Voicemail.

Step 4: Here, change the voicemail number in the screen.

Step 5: Click the red button to save the new voicemail number.

Configuring BlackBerry Voicemail Notifications

Step 1: From the BlackBerry’s homepage, press the menu key and navigate to Profiles icon.

Step 2: Click on the Profiles icon and scroll down to SMS Text. In some BlackBerry models voicemail notification is the same as text message notification.

Step 3: Choose Out of Holster settings. It is up to you to decide whether you want the voicemail notification to ring or to vibrate as well.

Step 4: Now choose the ringtone you want to set for your voicemail notification from the next field.

Step 5: Select the volume of the notification from the next field and then scroll down to make In Holster settings.

Step 6: Press Back and click to Save the settings, when the confirmation screen appears.
