If you are interested in transferring files from your Blackberry to your computer, you can do so with more than just the USB cable. If your computer has Bluetooth capability, you can use the Bluetooth feature on your phone to transfer files from the phone to the computer. Most of the new computers do have Bluetooth technology, but if yours does not, you can purchase a USB Bluetooth dongle for around $20 or less, depending on the merchant.

Before you begin, you’ll need to be sure that your computer has Bluetooth (insert the dongle into a USB port if your computer doesn’t already have it) and is on. Ensure that your phone is on as well.

First, on the Blackberry follow these instructions from the main menu:

  • Go to Manage Connections.
  • Bluetooth Options.
  • Add Device.
  • Choose your computer on the list of devices that comes up. If you do not see your computer in this list, make sure that it is visible to incoming Bluetooth connections.
  • Enter the passkey.

Now, on your computer:

Enter the passkey when the incoming connection window comes on screen.

The two are successfully paired and may now begin sharing files.

If you want to be able to send files from the computer to the Blackberry, you will need to enable the phone to receive files. If you do not want to send files to the Blackberry, you can skip this step.

From the main menu:
