Quick Take

When I first opened Arachnophilia, I expected it to be like every other text editor that I have tested. The other text editors force you to format each line of text in your web page. Arachnophilia is different. Find out how.

First Impression (3 out of 5)

I must start by saying that I am a Mac user. I have no idea what the differences are between the Mac and the PC versions of Arachnophilia. Installation of the program went well. I had no problems opening the program for the first time or since.

The interface looks very PC-like, as far as the icons go. Arachnophilia is not pretty, but it makes up for that with functionality.

Using Arachnophilia (4 out of 5)

The first thing I did was double-click on the page area, expecting to make up a brand new file from my imagination. Instead, Arachnophilia prompted me to open a file from a very short list. One of them was an old resume.

I selected that and watched the program load my resume into the text area, amazed at all the Word gibberish on the screen. Once I cleaned that out, I began exploring the group of buttons above the text area. If you run into this problem, select the Run Garbage Collector command from the Tools menu.

I’m a beginner with HTML, but I recognized the codes like hr, br, UnOrdList, etc. I highlighted the list of responsibilities in my last position on that resume and clicked on the UnOrdList button. Much to my delight, Arachnophilia entered all the code for me.

The only thing I had problems with was the tables . My resume has a table, and I was hoping to code it with the same simplicity as I could with the responsibility listings. I will have to read through the Help manual to find out how I can format the tables properly.

Not Just for HTML (5 out of 5)

Arachnophilia lets you program your files using Java Compiler and Runtime, as well as C ++ Compiler and Runtime.

Other Features (4 out of 5)

You can change any Arachnophilia menu item, toolbar button, or keyboard mapping by using the Macro Editor to edit the macro tree at the right of the main display. Or, you can right-click the toolbar buttons and choose “Edit.”

Arachnophilia can automatically save your documents at the specified intervals you set. You can also open the templates and change their contents to suit your needs. This software is totally customizable. If you would like to learn more about Arachnophilia and how to use it, check out the user guide , which will walk you from the basics of creating a website to building a Java Interface.

Conclusion (4 out of 5)

I have not checked out every feature that Arachnophilia has to offer, but I am impressed by what I’ve seen so far. This program will save you hours of time in coding, thereby allowing you to create quality websites faster. You may even learn some Java or C ++, in the process. Arachnophilia is licensed as “CareWare,” which means that it is free to use.
