Google Toolbar Features

Google Toolbar offers many appealing features, including a Sidewiki that allows you to comment on any webpage, a My Location service that customizes searches based on where you are, a spellcheck feature, an autofill utility and more. If you decide that you would like to add these options to your default web browser, learn the steps for Google Toolbar installation.

Google Toolbar Installation for Internet Explorer

Before beginning the Google Toolbar installation, be sure you meet the minimum system requires. Google Toolbar requires that you have Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher as your web browser and Windows XP SP2 or higher as your operating system.

Go to the Google Toolbar installation page and click the Install Google Toolbar button. Be sure you read and agree to the Terms and Conditions as well as the Privacy Policy before you continue. If you want to use Google every time you perform a search from the Internet Explorer address bar or search box, select the Set Google as Default Search in Internet Explorer and Notify Me of Changes check box. If you want to change your Internet Explorer home page to Google, select the Set My Home Page to Google check box. Otherwise, you can leave either or both of these unselected.

Click Accept and Download to begin the Google Toolbar installation. When the File Download - Security Warning dialog box appears, click the Run button. Click Yes if you receive a User Account Control warning. (To learn more about UAC messages, read About Windows Vista UAC and How to Disable It.)

Google Toolbar installation for your IE browser will now be complete. If desired, you can opt to begin customizing your toolbar right away.

Google Toolbar Installation for Firefox

Before beginning Google Toolbar installation, be sure you meet the minimum system requires. Google Toolbar for Mozilla Firefox requires that you have Firefox 2 or above as your web browser and Windows 2000 or higher, Mac OS X 10.4 or higher or Linux.

Go to the Google Toolbar installation page and click the Install Google Toolbar button. Be sure you read and agree to the Terms and Conditions as well as the Privacy Policy before you continue. Click Agree and Install to begin the Google Toolbar installation. When the Software Installation dialog box appears, click the Install Now button.

When the Google Toolbar Installation is complete, you will be required to restart Firefox to complete the changes. Click the Restart Now button when you are ready to have your Firefox windows closed and reopened.

Google Toolbar installation - Complete

Your Firefox browser windows will reopen when the changes are complete. The Add-on dialog will appear, showing that the Google Toolbar was installed. You will need to setup the Google Toolbar in Firefox. Select or clear the Use Google as My Default Search Engine and Use Google as My Home Page check boxes and click Next. You can then enable advanced features or choose to skip this step for the time being and begin using the Google Toolbar.
