Using Contact Groups to Email Others

Once a Contact Group has been created in Gmail, email can be sent to all contacts in a Group or only a chosen few. An email can be sent to a Gmail Contact Group from the Contact Manager or from the Compose Window. Follow these simple steps below to send the email.

Sending Email from the Contact Manager

1. Log into the Gmail account.

2. Click on Contacts.

3. Select the Contact Group to send the message to.

4. Click All at the bottom of the group or choose only the contacts in the group that should be sent the email.

5. Click on Email in the details window.

6. Compose the email to be sent.

7. Click Send. The email has now been sent to the entire Group or selected contacts within the Group.

Sending Email from the Compose Window

1. Log into the Gmail account.

2. Click on the Compose link.

3. In the To: field, enter the first few letters of the name of the Contact Group to be sent the email.

4. Select the Contact Group name from the auto complete feature list by clicking on it.

5. Compose the email to be sent.

6. Click Send. The email has now been sent to the entire Contact Group.

If an email needs to be sent to an entire Contact Group, using the Compose window will probably be the quickest and easiest way to accomplish the task. However, if the user only wishes to pick and choose a certain few contacts out of a group to send an email to, sending the email through the Contact Manager will be the easiest way to do so. The choice is up to you.
