Quick Take

Since 1978 Aveda has worked hard at making a name for itself as a high end eco-conscious cosmetics company, using all natural, organic ingredients and using recycled materials in their packaging.

Aveda

Aveda is well known for their eco-friendly policies. They are one of the first cosmetic companies to run on 100% solar power. Aveda packages their products using post consumer recycled materials. In fact their website states that their plastic bottles have a minimum of 80% PCR. Aveda is also one of the largest purchasers of certified organic ingredients. In addition the company also runs a bottle cap recyling program. Also, they partner with traditional farmers around the world, farming organically to bring us great ingredients such as the Babbassu nut farmed by a group of women harvesters in Brazil.

Smooth Infusions Style Prep Smoother (4 out of 5)

I’m really in love with their style prep smoother. Containing aloe, maize, guar bean and humidity fighting tapioca, it actually does stand up pretty well to humidity. I don’t know if I can honestly say that it lives up to its claims and lasts for 12 hours, but for wavy hair, it is a great product to add to your routine and help fight that frizz.

Black Malva Conditioner (4 out of 5)

Honestly, there is nothing that I don’t love about this color depositing conditioner. Containing both black malva and black tea this product is a great conditioner. I used it in between trips to the hair salon and it really did help keep the color from fading. It’s not a color treatment in itself, but it certainly makes a great color booster! I’ve also had the opportunity to use it on some brassy highlights and it really helped to tone down the highlights. Some people may find that it leaves a slight stain on the hands. But I find if you wash your hands after you’ve used it, it’s not a problem. I definitely recommend this product to brunettes.

Lip Saver (5 out of 5)

This is one of my favorite products in the Aveda line. It is an excellent lip balm. It contains Anise oil, cinnamon leaf and vitamin E along with some all-important SPF 15 protection. The smell is delicious while the texture is thick enough that it lasts a long time, but goes on very smoothly. In my opinion this is definitely one of the better natural lip balms on the market right now.
