Hdc = half double crochet
Dc = double crochet

Ch = chain
Round 1
Chain 1 and join with a slip stitch in first chain to form a ring.
Round 2
Ch 4, make 27 dc in ring. Join with sl st to top of ch 4.
Round 3
Ch 4, skip joining stitch “dc in next dc, ch 1.* Repeat from * to * around and join with sl st third ch of beginning ch 4.
Round 4
In first ch 1 space, sl st, ch 1 and sc. * ch 3, sc in next sp.* Repeat from * to * around, ending with ch 1 and hdc to first sc to make the last loop. (28 loops)
Round 5
Ch 3 and dc in same loop, *ch 5, skip next 2 loops, 9 dc in next loop, ch 5, skip next 2 loops, in next loop make a cluster {special stitches}, ch 3, cluster in next loop.* Repeat from * to * around, ending with ch 3. Join with sl st to top of first dc.

Tips & Patterns

Sports yarn (22 oz) and a size E hook will create approximately a 10 x 10 inch square.
Worsted weight yarn (40 oz) and a size G hook will create approximately a 12 x 12 inch square
Number 10 crochet thread and a size 4 hook will create approximately an 6 x 6 inch square.
Number 5 crochet thread and a size 5 hook will create approximately an 8 x 8 in square.
To make an afghan- 4 rows of 6 (12x12) motifs (24 total)
5 rows of 7 (10x10) (35 total)
To make a square 12 inch by 12 inch doilies ( 2 rows of 6 x 6 motifs) (total of 4).
Combine different amounts of motifs together to create longer or wider afghans and/or doilies.
