Studying Math

Those individuals (see image) of whom have completed a bachelor’s degree in mathematics or have taken some math courses for their degree in college may now be interested in taking more online courses in math at the graduate level. If this is true, the next section of this article will list a few schools who offer an online graduate math certificate.

As Dean Schlicter once said, “go down deep enough into anything and you will find mathematics.” [1] Math is essential for science, engineering, and research. Much of what we do is based on mathematical situations. The fact remains math is an important subject (and worth studying) to carry out tasks involving computations.

Job Outlook

Earning an online graduate math certificate may lead to a career as a mathematician or some other work in applied mathematics. As pointed out by U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, “mathematics is used extensively in physics, actuarial science, statistics, engineering, and operations research.” [1] Job prospects are good and so is the pay when employed in industry and the government. As a math teacher, more pay is determined by the level of math and type of students (high school, college, university) of whom are being taught.
