If you have no money for gifts, you may be dreading the Christmas season. The tough economic times have made it difficult for many people to have a big Christmas. Learn four suggestions to help you have Christmas, even if you do not have money for gifts.

How to Have Christmas With No Money

If you are facing difficult economic times, you may be wondering how to get Christmas gifts with no money. The holidays can be a depressing time when you do not have enough to make ends meet. It can be difficult to come up with gifts when you have no money to spend on them.

Raise Money

You can raise some money to purchase gifts by selling something that you own. If you have a lot of old video games that you no longer play you can sell those. You can also sell your old CDs, books or DVDs. Take a look around your house for things that you no longer use, but are still useful and consider selling it to raise a little money for the holidays.

Volunteer

Another way to cope when you are low on cash is to give the gift of help or service to your friends or family. You can volunteer to spend some time helping out with a home improvement project or baby-sit so a couple can go out on a date. You may volunteer to cook for the family for a big meal or make all of the birthday cakes for a year. This is a great alternative because you can match your talent with your friend’s need and help everyone.

Make Your Own Gifts

You can also make gifts when you do not have money for Christmas gifts. Consider going through all of your double prints, and creating a collage for each of your friends. If you have gone digital you could create digital scrapbook pages or put together a slideshow and burn it to a DVD. Additionally you could make a craft, baked goods or sew something. Consider the things that you are best at and get creative.

Give Your Time

One of the best parts of the holidays is looking back at the memories that you have had at Christmas time. If you do not have money to spend on Christmas, focus on creating experiences that your family and friends will cherish. This may mean Christmas caroling, making cookies together as a family, spending time going sledding. Make the day special, and pull the focus away from the gifts. You will be surprised how this Christmas turns out to be one of your family’s favorites.

Christmas should be special as to spend the time with your family and not expect a gift.  The meaning of Christmas is the birth of Jesus.  We should be thankful for many other things and enjoy the day with family.  I find the best present I would like is singing Christmas carols around the piano with my family.  This is how I spent many Christmases when I was young and wish this is the way Christmas should be again.

Christmas
Although we ARE a family of Christians, it's difficult to face the holiday with no money for gifts, trying to make our monthly budget work to pay the bills and carve out enough to give the kids something. Second jobs are few and far between, going to those who need a primary job. It's very discouraging when there are those you know who are on government assistance of some sort who brag about the hundreds of dollars they've spent on their kids, and you're working all you can and still don't have much. Venting seems to be the most I can do about it right now.

Cancel Christmas It is pretty sad when we think of that We have then missed the whole meaning of it alltogether and society has won by making us believe It is just a misserable holiday What about the things that matter most the visits the carols the family it is not about gifts but about the Birth of Our Lord And Savior. And about spreading happiness the world could use a few of us who can have Christmas without the grumbles thanks for reminding I think I will be better now somehow Christmas will still be special for my kids even though I do not have that much money

why not just do away with christmas altogether. It's a load of commercial rubbish and I for one, despise it, After year sof miserable christmases I was brave last year and cancelled it. I bought no presents, made no christmas dinner, did not visit nay family, and went away with a friend to a beautiful cottage in the wilds for a few days.
