I've been using Password Safe for years and am delighted to find there's a port to the iPhone. I just installed pwSafe and it looks great, and gets great user ratings. (Note that while the app itself is $1.99, if you want to sync using DropBox there's an additional $1.99 charge for that utility.) I see there's also a Password Safe compatible app called Password Touch ($4.99) but I haven't tried it.

I just bought GoodWallet. My first impression is very good, especially because it uses iCloud to sync my data between my devices. The only thing the developer has to do is to release a Mac version of it!

Where'd you get your pricing? I was just at the 1Password website, where they are selling the thing for roughly three times the price you're showing here.

Try pwSafe
pwSafe is a password manager which is compatible with the 10-year-old open source project Password Safe (passwordsafe.sourceforge.net).

pwSafe uses Dropbox to keep safes synced between devices and computers.

It is also open-source, so that it can be analyzed for security problems by anyone.

Splashed Out
Same dismal experience with SplashID. I read on Macrumors that they hired a PR firm to drown out all the complaints about the new version, lol. http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1158721

Splash ID
I've been using Splash ID for more than a few years. I started with a PC and a Dell PDA, migrating to iPod touch and iMac. In both scenarios, every software update brings data corruption, missing data, application crashes, and overall grief. Tech support eventually helps me stabilize things again, but not until after many days and email exchanges to try this or that. I am switching and warn anyone else to avoid the grief I've had over the years.

Datavault update with webdav
I updated to new version of Datavault with webdav sync. Brilliant, no more wi-fi headaches! The Mac version got an update too with Firefox autofill.

I discovered iAccounts
Does not cost a fortune, the iPhone app is first class and the Mac/PC app is free. Developer is very reliable, support call was answered in half a day.

Keeper
"Keeper" data vault is free and syncs across all mobile and desktop platforms. Search the app store for Keeper (by Callpod).

The desktop app is important!
I bought the STRIP app and desktop tool only to realize that their desktop tool does not allow any data entry from the computer. IMHO, that is an essential part of the software. I'm writing this comment to help you save the money I threw away.

Good question raised by Fabio. I wonder whether there is any hacker develops Password Manager to steal password. How do we do which one is genuine?

Thanks and regards,

Hi,
How safe are Password Managers for iPhone? Is the developer of such apps able to retrive private information for these password managers?

Thank you.

Try IDBox
Would you like to try IDBox, An iPhone password manager?

First I made it for me. And then I put it in App Store's utility section on free.

It's very simple, but worth to try it.

Passwords in IDBox are all encrypted and get them with your single master password. Your master password is in iPhone's keychain. It means no one get your information.

Got it, thanks
Thanks for the heads up on the desktop thingy!

Desktop vs iTunes
Hi Vanessa,

iTunes will save your apps when you sync but not necessarily the data in the apps. I have a lot of important information in Data Vault so I feel a lot safer having a desktop version than relying on iTunes. I also use the Ascendo desktop to login to web sites. Works with Firefox! I do most of my updates on my PC because it is quicker. So having a desktop is not only good for backup. I end up using Data Vault on my laptop more than on my iPhone.

Cheers,
Olly

iTunes sync vs desktop
Isn't iTunes sync good enough to backup your apps?
AJacobs Mar 31, 2010 10:26 AM
Don't forget the sync
If you are planning to use one of these apps you'll quickly discover that having a desktop version to sync with is essential so your passwords don't evaporate the day your iPhone bites the dust.

I've tried a few of these and the best desktops IMHO are DataVault (Mac & Windows), eWallet (Windows) or 1Password (Mac).
