You may get a one or two heart shaped boxes of candy for Valentine’s Day. After you eat all the candy you most likely consider the boxes unnecessary to keep and throw them in the garbage. Instead of tossing them out, consider trying to reuse the boxes to keep them out of the landfill.

Use the heart shaped boxes as decorations

You can cut the heart shaped piece off the top of the box, frame it, and put it up around Valentine’s Day the following year. In addition, you can leave the boxes intact and fill them with candy each Valentine’s Day. They make wonderful decorations that you do not have to pay for.

Make Trinket Boxes

If the boxes are elaborately decorated, you can use them to hold your trinkets or jewelry. If you do not like the way that the outside of the box looks, decorate it the way you wish to style it more to your taste. You can even paint over it to make it look more appealing.

Use for your own gift goodies

Instead of giving loved ones gifts in bags or small boxes, consider saving the heart shaped boxes to reuse for their gifts. The boxes are roomy and give a good amount of protection. Reusing the heart shaped boxes keeps them from ending up in the trash and saves you from having to buy any gift-wrap. You can also make your own chocolates at home and put them in the heart shaped boxes to give to others.
