The Garmin nuvi 2460LMT is one of the latest offerings by the Garmin corporation. This is a type of car GPS navigation system. While there are a lot of these models on the market, this one kind of stands out from the crowd, considering its large screen and attractive interface.

Like all modern GPS system, this car GPS system has a color screen, and it features a large arrow that shows you which lane you need to
be in to get off at your exit. The touch screen is quite large (5 inches), and it is backlit, helping you see the screen in bright light.
The screen itself is interesting to watch. The larger screen gives the navigation an almost animated feel. The navigation screen is similar to standard types of car navigation system. You have the “Where To?” button to input your destination, and the “View Map” that shows you your location. It also features the “ecoRoute” feature, which shows you the route that will save you in gas. The “Detour” button provides you with a different route if you hit a traffic jam or construction.

This Garmin also has speech recognition, which keeps from typing in your destination. It also is Bluetooth-enabled, which allows you to make hands-free calls.
The Lane Assist with Junction feature is a stand-out feature. It shows you the actual lane that you need to be in when the road splits or if you have to exit. No more guessing if you have to go left of right.
You can also remove this GPS system from your car and use it as a handheld system. Simply switch the device from car navigation to walking, and it gives your walking directions to your next location.
The points of interest (POI) database comes with 6 million points of interest, including restaurants, landmarks ad hotels. The device is installed with maps of all North America, including Mexico, Canada and the United States.

The major downside to this GPS system is the price. At the time of publishing, the cost for this unit is around $300, which is expensive for many people. This Garmin nuvi is similar to the nuvi 2460LT (about $250). The major difference between these units is that the Garmin nuvi 2460LMT comes with the lifetime maps. While you pay $50 more for this unit, you don’t have to pay for map updates, which will save you money in the long run.

Overall, the Garmin nuvi 2460LMT has a lot of amazing features, and the large screen is quite nice. The hands-free features will keep you from constantly playing with the device. Plus, you can take this device out of your car and use it on the street. And, you get free map updates. If you are in the market for a new car GPS navigation device, you should definitely try out this model.
