If you are interested in getting your online doctorate in educational leadership there are several options. We all know that in today’s fast paced world, it is hard to find a college or university that fits into our schedules. So, what exactly is a doctorate in educational leadership?
A person that is interested in becoming a school administrator, psychologist, or a college professor would obtain a doctorate in educational leadership. People that obtain this degree have Ph.D. or Ed. D. behind their name. Most superintendents of school districts have this classification. Doctorate degrees can be obtained be anyone who already has a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in a related field. So if you have both in a related education field, you may want to obtain your doctorate, even if you do not want to obtain a higher position. It is the highest degree you can achieve. If you want people to call you doctor, then this may be something you really want to do. Doctorate degrees are very intense and require a lot of work, but if you have the time, it is well worth your while. Not only will you be achieving the highest degree possible, but your pay will increase as well.
The University of Phoenix offers an online doctorate programs in educational leadership, educational leadership with a specialization in curriculum and instruction, and educational leadership with a specialization in educational technology. There is a one time $45 application fee, which you can complete online. In order to apply you must have the following: a master’s degree from an approved college or university that’s regionally or nationally accredited, or a comparable degree from a recognized institution outside the United States, a minimum 3.0 GPA on graduate degree posted transcripts, three years of professional work experience in a leadership position, a laptop computer with Internet access, a membership in a research library, and a signed University hardware/software agreement. The cost of the program is $770 per credit in addition to a $125 per course fee for the online courses. Their programs are 62 credits.
Walden University offers doctoral programs in teacher leadership, higher education leadership, and administrator leadership. It costs $50 to apply. In order to apply you must provide: employment history, applicable test scores, program goal statement, official transcripts, and a list of transfer credits. You must also provide them with a goal statement that includes: personal and professional goals, academic and research experience, work and other related experience, personal qualities, and why you have chosen to apply. The cost per quarter credit is $545. The entire program is 96 total credits.
These two programs are the ones that I recommend because they are accredited which means they have passes certain state standards and are a quality university. If you are willing to make the commitment these programs are great because you can do everything completely online. Hopefully, in the end you will obtain your online educational leadership doctorate so people can call you doctor!
