LG may be a heavyweight in consumer electronics, but it definitely hasn’t made its mark yet in smartphones. It has been trying hard, though. In the past year, it has concentrated its efforts on Android smartphones like the LG GW620, LG Optimus GT540 etc. It is going to launch a whole new line of budget Android devices pretty soon. I have already given you a preview of the LG Optimus One P500, the first one to be launched soon. In this article, I will show you the second one - the LG Optimus Chic E720.

The LG Optimus Chic E720 sports a standard candybar design, which is common in most budget touchscreen smartphones. It is quite compact with dimensions of 112.5 x 57.9 x 12.9 mm and it weighs just about 132 gms.

It has a 3.2 inch TFT capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 320 x 480 pixels. Below the display are the standard Android keys - Menu, Home, Back and Search.

Hardware and OS

The LG Optimus Chic E720 comes with some decent hardware specs. The hardware it has is common in most budget phones. It offers a 600 MHz processor and will likely have 256 MB RAM. It has 150 MB internal memory and will support up to 32 GB memory cards. It runs the latest version of the Android OS - Android 2.2 Froyo, which is very good for a budget phone. It includes support for almost all apps on the Android Market, thanks to the standard display resolution.

Multimedia

The LG Optimus Chic E720 is relatively well endowed when it comes to multimedia. It has a 5 MP camera which can capture images at a maximum resolution of 2592 x 1944 pixels. It also has autofocus and geo-tagging. It can capture VGA videos at 30 FPS.

It also has a stereo FM radio with RDS and supports 3GP, DivX, WMV, MP4 and H.264 encoded videos. It can also play these audio formats - MP3, WAV, WMA and eAAC+.

Connectivity

Like almost every other smartphone on this planet released in the past year, the LG Optimus Chic E720 comes with the standard set of connectivity options. It has GPRS, EDGE, 3G HSDPA, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g with DLNA, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP etc. It also has GPS with A-GPS support. It comes with the default Webkit based browser in Android.

It is powered by a 1250 mAh Li-Po battery which has a rated battery life of about 5-6 hours with moderate usage.

Conclusion
