An App for Sports Fanatics

For the more addicted sports fanatics there really is not enough coverage for their games. Between the news, more channels then any other genre, and a host of websites that rival porn in number, it seems that people just can’t get enough of their favorite team. Now iSports attempts to bring a comprehensive sports tracker strait to your phone.

What iSports Offers

iSports acts as a grand receiver for all pertinent information on major sports in the U.S. When you first open the application you will be greeted at the homepage by large icons asking to go to news pages for specific leagues. These alternate between the NFL, NBA, and NCAA. Below this you have links to fun things like Daily Ticket and sports trivia. At the bottom of the available page there is a score ticker that constantly changes displays of scores for the NFL, NBA, and NCAA. The application has several tabs at the bottom to select. The Scores tab will let you view full pages of scores for specific games, including some statistics. This is a nice multi-page display and can be selected from.

Bottom Line

The news section is fairly comprehensive, especially for a headline application. The interface is smooth and easy to use, and the score ticker at the bottom is nice for quick reference. The whole application has a nice gloss, but at times is a little overwhelming. The program may be too much information for the casual sports fan, especially if they are only really into one sport. Likewise, if they are absolute fanatics it may not be quite enough for them. All things considered this is one of the better free programs you can get for your iPhone. If you like sports then this will be a good update tool, but if you are more of a casual viewer you may want to just wait for Sports Center. Seven and three quarters out of ten stars.
