With so many natural calamities and disasters happening worldwide, it is a good idea to always be prepared for when emergency situations strike. Believe it or not, there is an app for that.     Want to be really prepared during emergencies? Give this iPhone app a try, as it will help you find when and where shelters have been opened where you can seek assistance. The app gives you locations and details about available shelters located in the U.S. It allows you to zoom in to local areas, view details, find out who's managing the shelter, and what the capacity of the shelter is. Another nice feature of this iPhone app is the fact that it lets you view open shelters by state and then find out the latest disaster information through the Disaster Online Newsroom. It also gives you access to the GEOS Emergency Response Service which is available 24/7 for a monthly fee of $9.97. In short, this iPhone app serves as your personal mobile emergency system. What's good about this app is that it only needs you to hold the SOS button for 3 seconds and the app will contact the Emergency Response Center to give your current location. (Price: Free)
