The HTC Evo is just slightly smaller and thinner at 4.8 by 2.6 by 0.5 inches long, wide and thick. This slight difference in bulk can be overlooked only because the Samsung features a slide out QWERTY keyboard and needs a bulkier build to fit this feature in. The HTC Evo features a great array of capacitive buttons and a solidly built construction. It even features a kickstand which is perfect when watching movies or listening to music. The Samsung Epic, on the other hand has a smoother grip due to its contoured and curved corners. In terms of the display of each screen, the Evo features a 4.3 inch screen while the Epic settles in at only 4 inches. On the other hand, the Epic’s smaller 4 inch screen features AMOLED technology which greatly surpasses the Evo’s slightly larger TFT LCD. The colors within the Samsung Epic are much brighter and crisper than the Evo. The Evo’s additional screen size is great for web browsing, movies and applications. When it comes down to it the Samsung Epic vs HTC Evo, the Epic wins as a result of its better AMOLED display.
The Samsung Epic features a slide out keyboard while the HTC Evo features a virtual keyboard. Some users find it much easier to use hardware buttons from a keyboard than type on a screen but the Evo’s wide touch screen interface is close competition for the Samsung Epic. The Epic features nicely spaced keys and great feedback. On the other hand, its virtual keyboard alternative is dire and makes typing without the QWERTY keyboard near impossible. The Evo’s virtual keyboard is great due to its large key interface. Users can also hold down some keys in order to access their special characters. This is much better than having to press the ‘function’ key on the Epic’s keyboard.

In comparison the Epic allows users to toggle the settings of the 4G network, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPS straight from the notification bar. Unfortunately it does not allow for all 7 home screens to be shown at the same time which the Evo does quite well using a pinch and zoom like gesture.
