The HTC HD Mini fits snuggly in the palm of your hand with measurements of 4.09 inches tall, 2.27 inches wide and 0.46 inches thick. This small phone, weighing in at only 3.88 ounces, is mostly all touchscreen. The display measures 3.2 inches and has a resolution of 320x480 HVGA. If you’re after a very compact device but you still want something reasonably powerful then the HTC HD Mini is for you.

User Interface (5 out of 5)

The HTC HD Mini runs Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional rather than the more popular Android OS. Despite the unfashionable operating system the HTC Sense user interface on top masks it well and makes the HTC HD Mini very user-friendly. It is very easy to manipulate the many settings and features and the device has plenty to offer. The touchscreen allows for quick navigation of all features and it allows the user to find what they are looking for with the minimum of fuss. The large icons can be changed around to accommodate whatever layout the user wants to have. The easy to read features are also a big plus with this device and they make things clear because underneath each icon is a caption to explain what each one is for.

Features (5 out of 5)

The features of the HTC HD Mini mimic the other high performance HTC devices. The 5-megapixel color camera has an auto focus and an added bonus of a wide-screen photo capture. This photo capture feature allows the user to capture more than what is seen in front of the lens, but also what is on either side of the lens. The HTC HD Mini includes a standard 3.5 mm audio jack and a micro-USB port. The browser that operates on this device is the new Opera platform utilizing the Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system.

The HTC Sense user interface allows the G-Sensor and Proximity feature to have peak performance. These features are responsible for ensuring that the image on the screen is always in an upright position regardless of which way the device is turned. The standard Wi-Fi services are present. The tethering feature on the device is a pleasant surprise that is available on the HTC HD Mini. The tethering feature allows the device to be used as a modem. The FM radio is yet another feature that allows this device to stand out from all the rest. Another feature that may be used extensively on this device is the zoom capability. This zoom feature can be activated with the touch of a finger to enlarge the on screen image to as large as the user may need it to be. This is especially useful when reviewing photos, videos or small print on various documents.

Performance (5 out of 5)

This small device packs a lot of power from its fast 600 MHz CPU processing speed. This is to be expected from the HTC HD Mini because this is typical for all the lines of HTC phones. This fast performance speed is desirable for the targeted user of this device. It allows the different social networking sites to be accessed quickly. Toggling various web pages is easy to do with this device while compromising neither the quality of data nor the loading speed of each page.

The sophisticated operating system and fast processing speeds allows the HTC HD Mini to share its internet connection by tethering through a USB, Bluetooth or a Wi-Fi router. The performance of the video on the device allows quality playback without the device getting hot for up to eight hours. The standby time of the device measures up to 500 hours. This allows the device to score even higher on performance because it does not constantly require the user to charge the device, unlike some other phones that constantly require charging. The talk time measures up to a phenomenal 400 minutes and the SD memory card is capable of storing up to 32 GB. This is extremely useful for people that constantly download applications and music to the device. It also saves space on the SD card to allow for more storage on the device.
