Microsoft Works is an office suite created by Microsoft as an entry level alternative to the full Microsoft Office family of applications. Microsoft Works includes a word processor, a spreadsheet and a database application. When the 2007 Office System Compatibility Pack is installed, the Works word processor and spreadsheet can be used to open and edit files created by the equivalent applications from Microsoft Office.
Microsoft Works is available as a retail product that can be purchased by end users, and an OEM product that is available to manufactures to be pre-installed on new PCs, and as a free ad-sponsored version called Works SE.
This guide shows you how to install and use Microsoft Works, provides comparisons to the full Microsoft Office suite, and offers tips on how to create professional documents using Works.
