Lotus 1-2-3 is a spreadsheet application that was popular in the 1980s. It was created by Lotus Software, which is now part of IBM. Lotus 1-2-3 was available for DOS, Windows, OS/2 and Mac. The latest version was released as part of the Lotus SmartSuite application suite.
IBMs latest office suite, Lotus Symphony, is based on OpenOffice.org, and has no direct relationship to Lotus SmartSuite.
Lotus 1-2-3 lost much of its popularity due to competition from Microsoft Excel. It is no longer actively maintained, and is not officially supported on recent operating systems like Windows Vista or Windows 7.
