Healthy weight loss efforts involve eating healthy, nutritious foods from each food group, to include limited amounts from the fats and sweets categories. Your primary sources of nutrition should come from vegetables, fruits, whole-grain foods, lean meats, proteins, low-fat dairy and healthy, monounsaturated or polyunsaturated fats. These healthier foods contain fewer calories than fatty or sweetened foods do.

Do allow yourself an occasional “cheat” food so you don’t lose control when confronted with your favorite cake or candy.
