Schools are one of the top sources of pollution and landfill contributions on Earth. Universities tend to be the largest contributors to waste and garbage, namely electronic waste. So, in order to avoid this, some universities are taking some very significant steps to green their IT departments.
Today, companies and individuals are constantly thinking of ways to become more high-tech and up-to-date, meaning that more and more electronics will end up in landfills. The Electronics TakeBack Colalition is working to change that.
In 2003, Microsoft Corporation joined forces with the School District of Philadelphia in an attempt to help out the environment by creating America’s first ‘paperless’ school. It was called ‘School of the Future’. As a result, they have inspired other schools across the U.S. to do the same.
