  • Playing Gamecube Games on the Wii

While you've been surfing around Bright Hub's Nintendo Wii and Console Gaming Channels, you may have noticed a handfull of reviews that refer to Gamecube games being playable on the Wii. I know there have been some questions regarding this, so I thought it might be best to clarify exactly how this works.

Yes, the Wii does include the ability to read and play the little Gamecube discs. However, these games are not compatible with the Wii remote. You will still need to own and use a Gamecube controller to make them work, as well as a Gamecube memory card if you want to save. Both items should be available at any major electronics or gaming retailer, or online at EBGames.com or Amazon.com. Assuming your Wii is standing upright, these controllers and memory cards plug into special slots hidden under a white panel atop the unit.

Anyone else have any how-to questions about playing GameCube games on the Wii? Ask away and we'll do our best to help out!
