Reality TV has inspired a new video game. This one won't have you looking for love or babysitting rowdy kids but instead you will be staring intently at your computer monitor as you race to find hidden objects around the world.
The Race is a hidden object casual game that features beautiful locations around the world. You can either race against others or play at a leisurely pace. You will compete against teams of two; the other teams all being played by the computer. You can keep up with your opponents through the status bar at the bottom of the page. You have a list of objects to find at each location. Hints are kind of fun, featuring a compass and a hot/cold meter. There are also some useful tools like the magnifying glass that can be used more than once during a round as well as a bomb that will knock back your closest opponent.
Your first circuit is the country championships where you'll travel to several counties and make stops at cities located in each. There you will have to find hidden objects and beat your fellow competitors to advance in the race. Once you've finished the country circuit, you move to the continental and finally the world tour.
The Race has much competition when it comes to hidden object games. To compete, a hidden object game needs to be fun and since most have basically the same gameplay, the little details have to stand out to remember one game from the next.
With it's charming premise and lively music, The Race delivers an entertaining hidden object game. The boards fit the theme of each location as well as the objects. However, there are a few negatives to this game.
If you don't click the right spot on the object, the game will not give you credit for finding it. Sometimes you must click the object twice or even three times before striking in just the right spot. Since part of the statistics are your finding percentage, wrongful clicks will lower your score. The good news is that it doesn't affect the outcome of the game.
This game seems strictly to be all about hidden object challenges. There are no mini-games between boards that offer a break from the seek and find adventure. For those who just want hidden object challenges from their hidden object games, then The Race is definitely for you.
