So, I'm taking a break from my normal MMO related posts to do some more reviews on those PC games that you really see pushed in advertising lately. Diner Dash is by far one of the ones that I have seen pushed in several different places and that I have played several times and enjoyed. This is one game by Yahoo that I do enjoy playing, although I have not bought the full version. Without further ado - here is my review of Diner Dash:
When it comes to working the customers - and your wrists - Diner Dash is it. Not only do you have to keep up with all of the customers, the tables, the orders, the food, bussing the tables, and closing up for the day, you also have to figure out a system to this madness so you can gain more points to earn bigger and better things at the end of each level. The game itself puts you as Flo, the owner of the diner and you are trying to make your diner the best one in town. So, you do start off small... just a few tables in a shoddy restaurant and you have to learn how to keep your customers happy while they are waiting on their food. By keeping up a good pace in the beginning, you will quickly learn how to do things in succession so that you can earn bonus points and more money.
Once you finish each level, you gain more tables and different types of customers. But, you do get the chance to spend your hard earned cash on different items to help you out, such as a faster oven, more tables, faster shoes for Flo, radios to keep the customers happy, and even a coffee machine to keep the customers happy while they wait for their order. These things all help to keep you going, and to keep your customers happy so that you can earn the most money possible during your shift. When you keep the customers flowing, their orders spinning, and the tables cleared asap, then it is easy to progress on to the next level and gain some great rewards.
The graphics in the game are pretty good as well. The details are just enough to see what you are doing, where you need to go, and get you through the game fast, without compromising the game itself. There are some cool upgrades that you can get for the shop as you progress through the game and you will see them immediately as the graphics change on the next level to accomodate your purchases. I like the graphics in the game, they are not too hard and they are not too fuzzy that you can not make out what you are doing.
Personally, I like this game. It's fun, it's challenging, and you will find that it will be a work out for both your wrists and your mind. I have not bought the full game of any of the versions yet (although I have played all of the free trial downloads that they offer as well as the free web version). I probably will in the future, so that really isn't a problem there either - and I'm sure as I get the full version, I'll learn some great tips and tricks that I can share with you to help you get through your day faster and get more rewards for your hard work.
Overall, I would rate this game (actually, any of the Diner Dash versions) a solid 3 out of 5, if not a 4 out of 5 and I would recommend that you take the time to play the free versions, even if you do not buy the whole game.
