Dawn of Magic: Pass on This Buggy Title

This game is fairly standard. It begins with an unhappy immortal who is seeking revenge on the other immortals and the whole of humanity while he is at it. Your job is to cut a swath through the evil minions and make your way to the big guy. Take him down and the game is over. This is pretty standard RPG territory, and you will not be amazed by any plot twists in the middle.

The combat in this game gives you a lot of combat options. You can enjoy both swords and magic to kill your foes. Your enemies will be very fast, and amazingly strong even at the lowest level, so don’t expect to get in clear shots. Be ready to die a lot when you first begin to play, as your attacks will have little effect.

The graphics in this game are one of the few bright spots. Even with only a minimal graphics card, you will have clear and bright visuals to enjoy. Just don’t expect anything 3-D in this title. Be aware that this game has the typical RPG handicap of having identical towns (and townspeople) every place you go. On the bright side, the game generally makes good use of bright colors so you will not be bored.

This review tested the game on two different systems, and on each one the game seems to crash at random intervals. The only way to thwart this (and the frustration that comes with the losses) is to keep saving during the game. Many of us would not call that a solution however. A check at relevant forums showed this to be a fairly common problem, with about 1/4 of users checking in with this bug.

All in all. this game should be passed by. You will be very unhappy with the performance of this game. Better that you should experience a less buggy RPG.
