My Tribe - A Gamer's Review of Big Fish Games' My Tribe PC Game

In My Tribe, you are trying to save your tribe of villagers from disaster by sailing to one of millions of deserted islands in the ocean around you. The 5 adults and 2 children in your tribe will sail to any island that you desire, and you begin to try and save yourselves by fishing, gathering wood and rocks, building huts and science stations, and more. During this time, your villagers will gain skill points that can be spent on other technologies as you progress through the game.

The story line itself in My Tribe is great, even though it is extremely similar to Virtual Villagers. The main difference is that once you have conquered your starting island, you can then sail on to other islands, ensuring that this game will last a long time for the money spent. Your little villagers will even miss you and beg you not to log off when you have to go for the night. So, overall, I give the story line in My Tribe a good 5 out of 5.

While the graphics are cartoonish, (it's a pc game afterall), they are still very good, and what I have come to expect from Big Fish Games. The lines are nice and clear, colors are vivid and bright, and everything is well detailed - right down to your little villager's faces. I think that the graphics in this "villager" game are actually better than those of Virtual Villagers for many reasons, even if they aren't as complex or detailed. For example, the firm lines in the graphics on My Tribe allow you to clearly see where everything is - even when it's raining, which is something that can be hard to determine in Virtual Villagers. It is very easy to see that the graphics in My Tribe had a lot of time and effort put into them, and I give them a 5 out of 5.

When it comes to game play, My Tribe won't let you down either. Here is a basic walkthrough of the game play that you will experience in this great little villagers game:

• You start off by choosing an island - among the millions of choices that you have - and your little boat full of villagers sails to it.
• Then, you take one villager and search the coast along where you have landed for a crate and open it. This will give your villagers the tools and fishing skill they need to live and thrive on their island.
• Now, you can set villagers to fish, gather wood or stone, build housing and other buildings, and even have kids (once you have a hut built). Once you choose a job for that villager to do, they will continue to do this same job until you change it on their detail screen.
• As your village gains more technology points, you will spend them however you choose, allowing your villagers to make bigger and better buildings, learn faster, and gain other skills that they need to survive on their island.
• Once your villagers have mastered all the skills that they need and have created a thriving society on their beginning island, you can then sail on to other islands and start over - all in the same game.

The game play overall is great. Your game won't end after you have conquered that first island unless you choose to end it. So, this means that you can continue playing different islands with the same tribe forever if you'd like to. And, because this is a real time PC game, your villagers will continue to work, build, and grow even when you aren't watching. So, as for game play, I give My Tribe a solid 5 out of 5.

Overall, this PC game is well worth the money. On Big Fish Games, My Tribe will cost you $19.99, unless you join Big Fish Games and choose to either purchase 5 or 11 more games during the year. Then, you can purchase My Tribe for $8.99 (by choosing to purchase 5 more games within the next year) or $6.99 (by choosing to purchase 11 more games within the next year). For me, it was worth it to go ahead and agree to buy 11 more games - I mean, after all, there are so many great games on www.bigfishgames.com for any type of gamer to enjoy.

So, if you loved Virtual Villagers, then you'll fall even more in love with My Tribe.
