A review of the Spore addition and the stand alone playable Creature Creator.

Images

Creature Creator was put out with two specific reasons. To add over 200 unique parts to the creature creating aspect of the SPORE mega-hit, and to be a stand alone fun pastime creating your characters to see what you can come up with. For the $10 for the addition, it makes a great addition to your video game shelf.

What it Adds to Spore

Creature Creator can be used in addition to the SPORE game to add additional parts to the creatures. These parts are the same drag and drop additions as in the regular creature creation process, but there are 228 more of them that aren’t included anywhere else. In addition to these extra parts, there are unique paint features so that you don’t look like every other cells and creature on the galaxy.

What it Has on Its Own

You can use the full feature version of the Creature Creator without the Spore game to build up creatures. You can create them and paint them, and with the play feature you can create all these dances and poses for the creatures. They can have emotions and you can have your own fun with them without putting them into the game. Using Creature Creator without the SPORE game is like a NeoPet of sorts. You can take your creatures and share them with others too, using the snapshots you take and videos.

Personal Thoughts

I loved all the additions that I could add into my creatures at the SPORE start up. I found myself creating creatures more than I was playing the game. When I received my copy of Creature Creator I sat down “to do a quick look through before I got to work” and I didn’t look back up from the computer for two hours. I was immersed, I was taken, and I was hooked. As soon as I made one, I erased and started a new one, sure that I was going to come up with the best one yet after just one more try. I believe that for the stupid low price of $10 it is one of the best time killers out there, whether you have a copy of SPORE or not.
