Building Garages with a Foundation in The Sims 2

Building garages with a foundation in The Sims 2 is relatively easy. There are only 7 steps involved, one cheat code, and it can be used by beginners. For this tutorial a house on a foundation will need to be built first.

The cheat code needed is boolprop constrainFloorElevation. To activate this cheat code, players will add false to the code so it would be typed as boolprop constrainFloorElevation false. Add true to the code to deactivate it. To enter cheat codes press CTRL + SHIFT + C at the same time and a box will pop up.

The first step in building a garage with a foundation in The Sims 2 is making sure there is enough room for the driveway to be placed. A driveway will require eight tiles from the street and five tiles for width. It is a good idea to use some highly visibly floor tiles to mark of the four corners of where the driveway will be placed. Be sure to leave one extra tile space between the driveway at the side of the house that the garage will be attached to.

Take the wall tool and put up six sections of wall at the end of the driveway. Leave on tile space between the house and the garage. Go over one tile from the other side of the garage. The six sections of wall should cover the five driveway tiles and one extra tile on the farthest end of the driveway.

Take eight floor tiles that match the driveway pattern and lay them on the farthest end of the garage going all the way back to where the back wall of the garage will be. Now diagonally drag the floor tile until in reaches the house's foundation. This will be the size of the garage once the entire structure is built.

Take the wall tool and create the other three walls of the garage stopping one tile from the house. Enter boolprop constrain FloorElevation false. Very carefully and slowly, take the wall tool and close the gap between the house foundation and the garage walls. If it doesn't work right the first time just simply click Undo and do it again. The adjacent and above walls will jump up and this is normal and will be straightened out.

Take a few floor tiles and place them at the top corner of the garage wall that is closest to the street and away from the house. This will be used as a control tile to level out the walls. Take the level tool and pick a spot on the house's foundation. Drag this tool over to the control tiles to level everything out. Now delete the control tiles and turn off the cheat by typing boolprop constrainFloorElevation true.

Build a room on top of the new garage foundation. Remove the five foundation tiles directly in front of the driveway. Turn on the cheat code by typing in boolprop constrainFloorElevation false. Very carefully replace the removed foundation tiles with wall tiles using the wall tool. Take the level tool and drag it from the garage's back corner to the front corner (diagonally opposite) to level the walls. Turn off the cheat code by typing boolprop constrainFloorElevation true.

Add the driveway piece and add the matching driveway extension piece to the inside of the garage and add a garage door. Add one block of foundation to the extra tile inside the garage and place a set of connecting stairs and a door. This will make it possible for Sims to enter the garage from their home. Add some wallpaper to the walls on the inside and some wall covering that matches the rest of the house to the outside. This is also the time to add windows and a back door. Also, be sure to add a roof. You have now completed building a garage with a foundation in The Sims 2. Now, a car can be placed in the garage and any other desired items.
