This guide provides you with a complete breakdown of all the weapons in Wolfenstein and all of the available upgrades for them.

Wolfenstein

Wolfenstein is a recent reboot of the classic FPS series. It casts the player in the role of a battle-hardened US soldier up against the Nazi hordes. Mix in some occult mystery, a magical hidden world called The Veil, and plenty of boss fights and you’ve got a solid single player campaign. The game also features a class based multiplayer and you can read more about it in the Wolfenstein review.

In this guide we are going to take a look at the weaponry you have available to you in Wolfenstein. There is a core set of weapons available to you from the start of the action and each instrument of pain can be upgraded between missions using the gold you have plundered. The weapons are a mixture of traditional FPS essentials and sci-fi inspired alternatives. Here is a complete list of the weapons and upgrades in Wolfenstein.

MP40

You start out with the MP40 and it is a solid WWII submachine gun. You can purchase five upgrades for the basic MP40.

  • Big Bore ($2,000) - Refits the barrel and firing mechanisms of the weapon to support heavier slugs and larger powder charges, greatly increasing damage.
  • Drum Magazine ($500) - Replaces the standard stick magazine with a light weight drum style clip that holds twice as many rounds as the common version.
  • Improved Rifling ($1,000) - Upgrades the weapon with tighter rifling which produces more spin on the bullet, significantly improving basic accuracy.
  • Recoil Compensator ($1,000) - Adds a muzzle break and gas venting system in order to reduce the recoil and muzzle climb experienced with each shot.
  • Silencer ($500) - Adds a combination flash and noise suppressor which makes enemies much less likely to spot the firer, especially when firing from hiding.

Kar98

The Kar98 is a bolt action rifle and you’ll find many of the German soldiers you despatch are equipped with one. You can purchase six upgrades for the Kar98.

  • Bayonet ($500) - Mounts an eight inch blade to the lug at the end of the weapon's barrel, making it a far more effective melee weapon.
  • Big Bore ($1,000) - Refits the barrel and firing mechanisms of the weapon to support heavier slugs and larger powder charges, greatly increasing damage.
  • Improved Rifling ($500) - Upgrades the weapon with tighter rifling which produces more spin on the bullet, significantly improving basic accuracy.
  • Silencer ($500) - Adds a combination flash and noise suppressor which makes enemies much less likely to spot the firer, especially when firing from hiding.
  • Sniper Scope ($2,500) - Fits the weapon with a high quality telescopic scope, providing a far better view of distant targets when aiming.
  • Stripper Clip ($1,500) - Refits the weapon's breach to accept a five round stripper clip, eliminating the need to load rounds individually and speeding reloading overall.
