Making a strong and powerful hero in Titan Quest is a simple, yet integral part of the game that makes playing Titan Quest a lot more fun and increases your chances of being the Titan in this quest. Use the hints and tips below to help you develop the toughest, strongest and most challenging hero you can, and take your Titan Quest to the next level of entertainment.

No point in saving gold

Many players will try to save gold in hopes of purchasing the unique or top-notch item that will make them more powerful. Unfortunately, the top items are only available at a cost that bites and if you save up to get them, your current equipment will start to be a little weak for the gameplay. If you're at the top levels, then you might keep an item you bought for 5 or 10 levels, but otherwise you will be changing them often. You will be more powerful and successful with five average quality items, rather than one above average item, and four below average items.

How to use relics

Relics can often be like gold for many players; they will save up their best relic feeling that it's too good to be used on their current equipment, or their present equipment is too top-notch to add anything but the most powerful relic to it. You need to remember that the relics you find in Normal difficulty will be underpowered compared to the ones you'll find in Epic difficulty, which will be weak compared to those you will find in Legendary setting. Relics are added to help you make it through the game, so they should be used and not saved. Items that you will be replacing in a short time should only have weaker relics added to them. Good items should have your best relics put on them. Don't be afraid to use your relics because eventually you'll be replacing them, and it's certainly better to make use of relics before they become obsolete.

Getting your skill mastery up to speed

If you're a new player to Titan Quest, you may figure the quickest way to becoming a powerful character is to invest all skill points in maximizing your skills so you can use the highest level skills as quickly as possible. Certainly there are situations where this can work in building your character, but usually it places limitations on your character you might regret later. A majority of the higher-level skills were made to complement a character after they have powered up the mid level modifiers and beginning skills. In addition, many have use restrictions, such as a long recharge time or requiring a large amount of energy to use. The high level skills will also fall into these categories: attacks like Eruption have high energy costs and long recharge times that really make them less useful as your main attack. This results in you progressing at a slower rate through the game and it will be much harder to succeed at your goals. The lower level skills you have are also the framework upon which the power of your character is built around. The best solution - until you have an idea what is going on - is to balance skill points between increasing your beginning skills and increasing your mastery level to unlock the next level of skills and modifiers.
