The release of Module 9 of Dungeons and Dragons Online: Eberron Unlimted was delayed for ten months and module 10 won't be far behind because of the delay. We'll give you a brief preview of some of the changes the free to play mode will bring to the experience of playing Dungeons and Dragons Online.

Dungeons and Dragons Online

Dungeons and Dragons Online Eberron Unlimted a new free to play MMO

Dungeons and Dragons Online: Eberron Unlimted is the name of the newest Dungeons and Dragons Online MMO by Turbine. Turbine has decided to change directions with this edition of their popular and successful MMO, by implementing a free-to-play model, instead of a player-based monthly subscription format. Turbine is taking a huge step by heading down this road. If they're successful in actually increasing their profits using an innovative and industry altering free-to-play model, we could be seeing the beginning of a trend in the industry.

Dungeons and Dragons Online has always had the aura of a different kind of MMO. Their granting of XP points and treasure after an adventure, rather than on a per kill basis. In addition to an authentic recreation of D&D rules and the world of Eberron, has distanced them in a way from more traditional MMOs. The changes Turbine makes to Dungeons and Dragons Online: Eberron Unlimited are going to have to give the gamer something different to experience, if they want to be successful with their free-to-play model.

Does a Free Account Get You Access to Everything?

Dungeons and Dragons Online Eberron Unlimted is supposed to breath new life into this entertaining MMO

Dungeons and Dragons Online: Eberron Unlimted is free-to-play with the click of a button but a free account doesn't have access to all the benefits available on the site. There's still a class system of sorts in play, you can be a DDO VIP member, a Premium member, or a free member. You're a Premium member if you purchase a Turbine points bundle, purchased the Stormreach edition of Dungeons and Dragons Online, or are a subscriber. You get a few more perks being a Premium member but even these are limited in a few important ways. A DDO VIP member has better and quicker access in a few important areas of the game that does create a class system that free members will notice. Free members have limited access in all areas of the new game that I looked at, so purchasing a Premium or DDO VIP membership definitely has additional benefits.
